Uma Thurman and fiance Arpad Busson have finally announced the name of their baby girl. Take a deep breath: Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson. Or Luna, for short.
Thurman’s rep Gabrielle Kachman made the announcement: “I would like to announce Uma and Arki’s daughter’s name for the first time officially: Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson, better known to family and friends as Luna.” That’s a lot of special meaning for one tiny person. Luna was born on July 15, but her name was not released to the public until now. Perhaps, as Today writer Natalie Finn quips, “they probably needed plenty of time to practice spelling it first!”
Little Luna was born in Rhinebeck, New York, and is the first child for the couple. Thurman, 42, has daughter Maya Ray and son Levon from her marriage to Ethan Hawk. Flynn and Cy, Busson’s sons with ex-fiancee Elle MacPherson, round out the family tree.
The proud parents began dating in 2007, then got engaged. But in November of 2009 they called things off, only to renew their relationship at the Paris fashion show in early 2011. Busson, 49, and Thurman announced the pregnancy in February of this year.
Thurman’s engagement to the Swiss multimillionaire financier was announced in June. The actress received some serious bling for her consent: her ring has an 8-plus carat center stone, surrounded by 20 smaller stones. “It’s the most beautiful piece I’ve ever seen,” says a close source. “Arki did a wonderful job.”
The three-time mommy was spotted carrying 4-week-old Luna to a doctor’s appointment in August, but the family has stayed under wraps for the most part.
