Cynthia Bailey Divorce: ‘I Will Never Marry Again’ After Failed Marriage To Peter Thomas

Cynthia Bailey decided last year that she wanted to divorce her estranged husband, Peter Thomas. While filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the two had clearly grown apart, and she was getting tired of learning about his escapades on social media. As the previous season started, Bailey had seen the Instagram video that made headlines last year, where Peter got a little too close to another woman. While he claims he did nothing wrong, it did look like he was kissing and grabbing the other woman rather aggressively. Cynthia felt that they had grown apart, as her business and life was flourishing in Atlanta, while he was spending more time in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to a new Bravo report, Cynthia Bailey is now opening up about her divorce from Peter Thomas, and she reveals that the divorce has been straightforward since they don’t have any children together. Even though Bailey invested her own money into his failed restaurant business when the couple joined The Real Housewives of Atlanta years ago, she now admits that they are leaving the marriage with what they came with.

“I will always love Peter and have his back,” Cynthia Bailey explains in an interview with Us Weekly, according to Bravo. “There was a lot of internal unhappiness. I wasn’t at peace.”

The divorce was announced a few months ago while the show was on hiatus. People were not surprised that Cynthia wanted to end the marriage, as she felt completely betrayed by her husband. While the two were legally separated for a while, Thomas was surprised when he learned that Cynthia decided to file for divorce. And now, Bailey is convinced that Peter didn’t feel like he was a top priority in his marriage.

“Peter never felt like he was my No. 1 priority. He was right. She was,” Bailey explains about her relationship with her daughter Noelle, who lives with her full time.

Of course, Bailey had trouble over the past couple of years, especially around the time of her wedding. Cynthia questioned whether the marriage was really right for her, as she had been engaged several times before but never went through with the marriage part. And she admits now that she couldn’t give up the single her to be his wife.

“I couldn’t give up Cynthia Bailey to be Cynthia Bailey Thomas,” Bailey reveals, adding, “I was in love with Peter, but I’m just not wife material. I will never be in a relationship again where it will take a lawyer for me to walk away. I will never marry again.”

Even though Cynthia announced that she was divorcing her husband, many people didn’t believe that the divorce was real, as Bailey and Peter were spotted holding hands in Hawaii just a few weeks ago. The entire cast went on a trip to Hawaii and they had a few moments together alone – and they surely didn’t act like they were getting divorced. It will be interesting to see how this divorce plays out and what exactly happened in Hawaii that confused fans of the show, who thought the divorce was staged for publicity.

“Hawaii was the first time Peter and I have hung out since we separated. I think Kandi was hoping for a love reconnection,” Cynthia reveals during her Us Weekly interview, adding that the divorce has been smooth. “We had no children together, so what’s his is his and what’s mine is mine. There’s something very scary about turning 50 and being by yourself. I just have to believe everything will be OK.”
