Taylor Swift Unexpectedly Shows Up At The CMA Awards 2016

Taylor Swift made a surprising appearance at the 2016 CMA awards, which it was initially thought that she would not attend.

Taylor was present at the 2016 VMAs which marked the 50th anniversary of the event alongside other surprise appearances from artists such as Beyoncé. Taylor, whose musical career has spread into the pop genre, was back to her country roots at the event which was held on Wednesday. Swift’s music was more of the country genre when she started her career.

Taylor who is currently 26-years-old was clad in a sparkly, slinky dress took to the stage to present the “entertainer of the year award.” This was befitting because she is a two-time winner of an award in the same category. Taylor’s first attendance of the CMA awards was in 2007 where she was fortunate enough to win the new artist award courtesy of her Taylor Swift album.

“Hi Nashville. It’s been almost 13 years since I came to Nashville with a dream to be a songwriter and recording artist and I learned so much about what it means to be an entertainer from the remarkable artists in this arena tonight,” stated Taylor when she took to the stage.

Taylor went on and handed the award to Country music artist Garth Brooks who then gave his acceptance speech before the event was concluded. Taylor’s presence at the CMAs was a good tribute which demonstrated her love and respect for the Country music community which elevated her to fame. Country music was undoubtedly a huge a huge stepping stone in her career, though she has since then drifted off into pop music. Her album 1989 was highly successful and Swift is considered one of the highest paid female musicians in 2016.

Swift received the CMA entertainer of the year award the first time in 2009. She also received the Album of the Year award for her album Fearless and her song “Love Story” also garnered the Video of the Year award in the same event. Swift won the Entertainer of the Year award for the second time in 2011. She was also nominated for the same award in 2012 and 2013. These achievements made her a force to reckon with and further elevated her career.

Taylor’s presence at the CMAs was a surprise to many due to numerous reasons. First and foremost, she no longer sings Country music so she did not expect to receive any award at the event. She had also not hinted that she would be present and was most likely thought to be busy working on her latest music projects. However, it seems she respects the CMAs so much that she could not miss out on its 50th anniversary.

Even more surprising than Taylor’s presence was the presence of pop queen and legend Beyoncé, who performed a country rendition of her song “Daddy Lessons” from her album Lemonade. She performed the song together with the Dixie Chicks. Beyoncé’s presence was also exciting for the crowd and a symbol of the wide significance of country music. The event was hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley and the two could not resist throwing in a few political jokes.

“The people need to know: Will you accept tonight’s results?” Underwood asked. “Yes. If I win,” replied Paisley.

As for Taylor Swift’s unexpected visit, there is a significant chance that the artist might be compelled to come up with another country hit in the future. This would be a good way for her to uphold ties with the country music community though it only amounts to speculative reasoning at the moment. The CMA awards also featured numerous other female country music legends such as Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, and Kacey Musgraves. Taylor’s presence at the CMAs was undoubtedly a pleasant surprise for country folk.
