Jessica Sanchez Joining Glee, Could Play Love Interest For Cory Monteith

Jessica Sanchez is joining Glee, confirming the many rumors that the American Idol runner-up would be acting and singing on the show.

Sanchez will be on Glee for a recurring role on Season 4, Fox reported. While its not clear what exactly Jessica Sanchez’s Glee part will be, there are rumors that she will be playing a new love interest Cory Monteith’s character, Finn.

The 17-year-old singer with the powerhouse for a voice, Jessica Sanchez, fell in the Season 11 finals of American Idol to Phillip Phillips earlier this year. For Sanchez, a spot on the Golden Globe-winning Glee is certainly a good consolation, MSN TV noted.

Show creator Ryan Murphy unveiled some hints on Twitter about Jessica Sanchez’s Glee role and the possibility of one of the show’s well-known “theme episodes.”

He wrote:

“Jessica Sanchez on Glee. With voices like Jessica, Lea, Naya, Melissa, Amber, and Jenna … Streisand episode?”

There could be more gimmick episodes to come, The Huffington Post speculated. There are rumors circulating that Ryan is looking into casting legendary singer Bette Midler to play a yet-to-be-disclosed role on the show. If it comes through, the development would be quite a steal for Glee.

Jessica Sanchez joining Glee is one of many developments for the almost American Idol. She has been busy in the recording studio for her debut album. This week she tweeted to followers that the studio has become her “second home.” Sanchez has also been busy touring with the fellow finalists of American Idol, and in August she performed at the Republican National Convention.
