Rory Feek Talks CMA nomination with late wife, Joey Feek, Reveals Who His Date Will Be

Tonight it is time for the big CMA Awards, but Rory Feek will have to attend without his wife, Joey. Since her passing, Rory hasn’t been singing, but he is still nominated for an award tonight along with his wife for their duo Joey+Rory. AOL shared that Rory is speaking out about being emotional about their nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards. Joey passed away back in March.

Rory Feek is speaking out about this emotional time for him. He hasn’t even had a chance to figure out what he would say if they win the big award tonight. You know that Rory Feek will figure it out. Here is what he had to say about it.

“It always means a lot to be nominated with your peers, but this year in particular because just having my wife’s name and our music continue to be lifted up in the country music community means so much to me.”

Rory also shared about when he found out that they were nominated, saying, “I don’t know where I was, honestly, when I heard about the nomination. That’s just the way life has kinda been. More than likely I was giving the baby a bath, or feeding her oatmeal or something exciting — I was on a tour of the second drawer of her dresser. It’s kinda in the midst of her life.”

Rory Feek has been through a really hard time in his life, but that isn’t holding him back from living. Rory Feek shared about how supportive the country music industry has been and spoke about his plans.

“It’s been amazing to be going through all that we went through and to have that many people praying for my wife, and caring for us, it’s been really special. You guys have continued to take my story and share it, and that means a lot because it helps people see it and that’s nice and I want to be an encouragement. And we’re all gonna face it, either ourselves or the people we love, it’s kinda important. I don’t know what I want to do in the future. I know there’s a book coming out. I have no big plans — so we’ll see where God leads us.”

Rory Feek will be bringing a date along with him to the CMA Awards tonight, but don’t think that he is already dating someone new. Taste of Country shared that Rory made plans to bring Joey’s parents with him. This will be great to see them all together at the show. Rory Feek shared that if they win, he knows who his wife would have thanked first. He said, “God. No doubt. Wouldn’t even hesitate.” Rory Feek does have two daughters from a previous marriage plus his daughter Indiana with wife Joey Feek. It sounds like the girls will be staying at home tonight while Rory attends the event with Joey Feek’s parents.

Joey+Rory are up against some pretty great competition for this award tonight. Also nominated for the Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards are Brothers Osborne, Dan+Shay, Maddie & Tae and Florida Georgia Line. The viewers can’t wait to see how it all turns out tonight on the show. Any of these duos could easily win the award.
