Prince Harry And Meghan Markle: Could Her Secret Divorce Derail Engagement Plans?

Prince Harry might be head over heels for his new girlfriend, Meghan Markle, but her secret past threatens to break them apart. Radar Online reports that Markle filed for divorce in 2013. Does Harry’s family know about the split?

Before Markle’s romance with Harry took center stage, the Suits star wed Trevor Engelson in the summer of 2011. Less than two years later, the couple parted ways, and Markle filed for divorce in August 2013.

It isn’t known why Markle and Engelson split, but the pair noted “irreconcilable differences” in the divorce petition. Despite a fast breakup, it sounds like everything was amicable. The former couple had a “temporary judge” iron out the details of the divorce. The actress did not hire a lawyer for the proceedings nor did she request spousal support.

There’s no telling what would happen if Markle came clean about her past to Prince Harry and the royal family. Even her sister, Samantha Grant, doesn’t think Markle and Harry will stay together for much longer.

Grant is Markle’s half-sister and says that she grew up with the actress in California.

“The royal family would be appealed by what she’s done to her own family,” Grant shared. “The truth would kill her relationship with Prince Harry. He wouldn’t want to date her anymore because it puts her in a bad public light.”

Grant added, “I certainly don’t think Harry or his family would want to associate with her afterward.”

According to the Daily Mail, Markle finally broke her silence after the news of her royal romance.

In speaking about her new fashion line, Markle revealed a little more about her past and how she was raised.

“I was not a girl who grew up buying $100 candles. I was the girl who ran out of gas on her way to an audition,” she explained. “I’m deeply and passionately involved in the design process. I’m a brash American and if my name is going to be on something, I’m going to have my say.”

Harry met Markle during a charity event. The two eventually went on a few dates and are reportedly serious about their relationship.

“They are the real deal. He definitely pursued her and besieged her with texts until she agreed to a date,” an insider shared. “He is very full-on but she was going through a tough time with her previous boyfriend and she was very flattered.”

Markle is thought to have been seeing Cory Vitiello when her romance with Harry took off.

Despite Markle’s past, Harry can’t get enough of his American girlfriend.

“He’s head over heels and she feels the same,” the insider added.

News of their shocking romance created quite the stir in Britain and even delayed Prince Harry’s secret visits with Markle.

Harry was set to fly out of Britain and arrive in Canada this past weekend but failed to show up at the airport because of the media frenzy.

“The flight was booked last week but he was a no-show,” an insider revealed. “The crew for the British Airways flight knew the Prince was booked to travel with them. It appears he pulled out at the last minute and decided not to travel.”

Markle is based out of Toronto, and she is known for her part in the hit legal series, Suits.

Although Harry postponed his trip to Toronto, the two are reportedly going strong.

“He’s happier than he’s been for many years,” a source close to the couple stated. “He’s in a very relaxed period of his life and Meghan has come along at the right time.”

“They are taking each week as it comes and just enjoying each other’s company but it’s fair to say that they love seeing each other and there’s a definite chemistry between them,” the source continued.

Things are going so well that People reports an engagement is right around the corner.

“That is certainly a possibility,” a friend of the couple told the outlet. “It is certainly one possible outcome. It’s pretty serious, so we will see.”

Harry and Markle have only been together for two months, yet he has already introduced her to Prince Charles.

“Harry is pretty serious about her and she is pretty serious about him,” the friend added. “It’s great. They have a lot in common and I’m sure they will get on very well.”

Harry and Markle have not confirmed their heated romance, although the actress has shared a few interesting posts on social media. This includes an image of two bananas cuddling and a picture of a very British tradition on Instagram.

According to The Star, Harry also made his way to Toronto and showed up with Markle at a Halloween party.

Sadly, the royal office refuses to comment on the matter and none of Harry’s family has said anything about his romance.

“People need to let them go their own way and see what happens,” a close friend of Harry concluded.
