Paul Bettany Says He’s Never Seen An ‘Iron Man’ Film, Is Plagued By Fanboys [Video]

Paul Bettany has made a lot of money by providing his voice for Tony Stark’s A.I. butler J.A.R.V.I.S. in Marvel’s Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and The Avengers, but the English actor hasn’t seen a single one of those movies.

Echoing remarks made by Hugo Weaving recently regarding his role as Megatron in the Transformers franchise, Bettany admitted that not only has he never seen any of the Marvel films that he plays a crucial role in, he has no interest in the story lines and never even read the whole script for any of the highly successful films.

“I walk in, I say some lines on a piece of paper for two hours, and then they give me a bag of money and I leave and I go about my day,” Bettany nonchalantly admitted to DigitalSpy about his role in the Iron Man series.

“I sort of feel guilty… I do nothing! And I’ve never seen one of them,” he said, calling his role as J.A.R.V.I.S. a “robbery.”

Bettany also admitted that he’s a bit lost when frequently approached by Marvel fans over the role. “I’m plagued by fanboys who love J.A.R.V.I.S. … They come up and I’ve got no idea what they’re talking about,” he confessed.

As we previously reported, Australian actor Hugo Weaving holds a similar perspective regarding his role as Megatron in the Transformers series. “I just went in and did it,” said Weaving of the role. “I never read the script. I just have my lines, and I don’t know what they mean.”

Vulture humorously suggested that Bettany and Weaving join a support group for disillusioned and confused voice actors, opining, “both of you could just guess the plot based on the title of your movies. ‘It’s about a man who is made of iron?’ ‘It’s about a transforming being of some kind?’ Yup, close enough.”

Here’s video of a befuddled Paul Bettany admitting he has never seen an Iron Man film. Meanwhile, I have my own Paul Bettany film-confession. I never saw Legion or Priest.
