‘WWE SmackDown Live’ Results: Huge Announcements For ‘Survivor Series’ And ‘WWE TLC’

After Monday Night Raw revealed some of their competitors for the Traditional Elimination Matches at this year’s Survivor Series, the WWE Superstars on the SmackDown Live roster were anxious to hear General Manager Daniel Bryan’s announcement on MizTV this week. Will John Cena return to the ring to help represent the blue brand? Will Randy Orton be too distracted with Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family to be a part of Team SmackDown? And assuming both Dean Ambrose and the WWE World Champion AJ Styles make the cut, will they be able to put their differences aside and work together to defeat the five best competitors from the red brand?

Additionally, Commissioner Shane McMahon showed up on Talking Smack to announce the main event for WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December.

WWE SmackDown Live Results

The following includes the results of all the matches and segments from SmackDown Live on November 1. This episode of SmackDown aired live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. SmackDown Live hasn’t won the ratings war with Monday Night Raw since the week the blue brand hosted the WWE Draft. With this week’s episode of SmackDown providing major updates to this year’s Survivor Series — and the first news regarding WWE TLC — will this be the first time Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan’s show defeats WWE Raw?

SmackDown Pre-Show On The WWE Network

Scott Stanford hosted the SmackDown Pre-Show and was joined by Lita, Booker T and Jerry “The King” Lawler in the studio. New WWE correspondent Dasha Fuentes was backstage at Newark and relayed messages from Baron Corbin and Curt Hawkins, both of whom said they deserve to be on Team SmackDown at Survivor Series.

James Ellsworth apologized to Dean Ambrose — AJ Styles laid them both out

This week’s SmackDown Live opened with James Ellsworth making his way to the ring — with his own theme music — so that he could say goodbye to the WWE Universe. He also called out Dean Ambrose so that he could apologize for costing him a chance at a the WWE World Championship. AJ Styles interrupted to tell Ellsworth that James should be apologizing to AJ instead. As things turned physical between The Lunatic Fringe and The Phenomenal One, Ellsworth tried to keep them apart. Instead, he just got in Dean’s way, giving AJ enough of an advantage to take care of both men before walking away.

After a commercial break, General Manager Daniel Bryan spoke with both Ellsworth and Ambrose backstage. He told Dean that he would get one more shot against the WWE World Champion tonight, with a chance to become the No. 1 contender. This is his last chance, however, regardless of what happens. At the same time, Bryan told James that he was to remain backstage for the rest of SmackDown Live, and refrain from going to ringside for any reason whatsoever. Later in the show, when Ellsworth begged Ambrose to have him at ringside, The Lunatic Fringe shut him down and told him to chill backstage and eat some Halloween candy.

Randy Orton defeated Kane in a No Disqualification Match — The Wyatt Family showed up

After Randy Orton cost Kane his No DQ Match against Bray Wyatt last week, the Big Red Monster wanted the Viper one-on-one with the same stipulations. As Orton and Kane were in the middle of their match, Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper appeared, giving returning the favor to Orton for his help on last week’s SmackDown. After the match, Orton did his standard pose in the corner while Bray did his pose in the middle of the ring.

Later in the show, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Randy Orton were all shown in a standard Wyatt Family backstage promo. After officially being welcomed into the fold, Orton admitted that he thought Bray was a god.

Alexa Bliss & Carmella defeated Becky Lynch & Nikki Bella

One week before Becky Lynch defends the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss in Glasgow, it was the WWE’s version of Harley Quinn that scored the pinfall victory for her team over the champ. While Lynch and Bliss have a huge battle next week, they’ll be forced to team up with Carmella, Naomi and Team Captain Nikki Bella for Survivor Series. As it was revealed later in the show, Natalya will act as the team’s official coach.

American Alpha defeated The Spirit Squad to qualify for Survivor Series

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable will be joining Rhyno, Heath Slater and The Hype Bros as part of Team SmackDown in the 10-on-10 Elimination Match. They made relatively short work on The Spirit Squad, who never really stood a chance.

Daniel Bryan announces Survivor Series selections on MizTV

GM Bryan was more than ready to give the WWE Universe exactly what they wanted. For their men’s team, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Baron Corbin. The women’s team will feature Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Alexa Bliss and Naomi. Matches would be held to see who joins The Hype Bros, American Alpha and Rhyno and Heath Slater for the Tag Team Elimination Match.

He also noted that The Miz wasn’t much of a fighter, unlike Dolph Ziggler, who would defend his title in an open challenge.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Curt Hawkins

Hawkins decided to finally make his in-ring debut by answering The Showoff’s open challenge. Unfortunately for him, the match was over almost as soon as it started and Ziggler’s reign as IC champ continues. Post-match, Ziggler issued an open challenge to anyone from Monday Night Raw to face The Showoff for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series 2016.

The Usos defeated The Headbangers to qualify for the Survivor Series

In another match where the winner was easy to spot from a mile away, Attitude Era favorite The Headbangers returned once again, this time mixing it up with Jimmy and Jey Uso for a chance to compete at the Survivor Series for Team SmackDown. The Usos came out victorious, however, leaving just one spot to be filled.

Dean Ambrose defeated AJ Styles to become the No. 1 contender

Despite being told repeatedly by Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose to remain backstage under any and all circumstances, James Ellsworth popped up twice during the main event. After leading the security team in a game of cat-and-mouse, everyone’s favorite jobber came back to ringside just long enough to momentarily distract AJ Styles. That was all that Dean Ambrose needed, and in the end, Ellsworth completely made up for his huge mistakes.

Talking Smack on the WWE Network

As Daniel Bryan was discussing with Renee Young what actions might be taken against James Ellsworth for explicitly ignoring the GM’s requests, the hosts were interrupted by Natalya. To show her thanks for being named the coach of the SmackDown women at Survivor Series, she brought Daniel a “Thug Life” t-shirt with a picture of her cat, 2-Pawz.

Commissioner Shane McMahon also joined the show, and made the announcement that the main event for WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs would be a TLC Match for the WWE World Championship featuring AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose. They were also joined by American Alpha, who were the only team that The New Day showed any respect for when they cut a promo against the blue brand’s Tag Team Division. Before Talking Smack ended, Dean Ambrose came on the show to talk about his victory over AJ Styles and the title match that is booked for WWE TLC.

The above SmackDown Live results will be corroborated by WWE’s official SmackDown Live page.
