Nick Viall Breaks Down On ‘The Bachelor’ Season 21, Pulls A Major Mesnick

Nick Viall is not holding back on the upcoming season of The Bachelor. In fact, he’s letting all of his emotions out, according to Us Weekly. In an interview with On With Mario Lopez, longtime Bachelor host Chris Harrison revealed that Viall is not the polarizing player that some fans expect him to be.

“I know people were a little reluctant, and they’re giving him a hard time,” Harrison said of Viall. “He’s a good man — he’s a really good guy. And he’s doing a good job.”

Nick Viall has appeared on three previous seasons of Bachelor-related shows, so many skeptics are accusing him of not being on the ABC dating show for the right reasons. But Harrison revealed that viewers will see Nick experience a full range of emotions as he embarks on his journey. In fact, Viall pulls a full-on Mesnick. Fans of the ABC reality show recall Bachelor Season 13 star Jason Mesnick’s tear-filled balcony scene when he had to decide between proposing to Melissa Rycroft and his future wife, Molly Malaney, back in 2009.

“He hit a little low point, as all of the Bachelors do,” Harrison said of Nick Viall. “You kind of reach this emotional bottom where you get stripped down. If you know what a Mesnick is, I will let you know that he pulled a full Mesnick. There will be man tears on this season for sure.”

Insiders tell Us that a turning point during taping turned Viall into an “emotional mess.” The source revealed that Nick had a “full meltdown” and that “multiple girls have been crying” throughout the season.

This is not the first time Chris Harrison has referenced Jason Mesnick’s epic balcony breakdown when talking about a future season of the show. Earlier this year, Chris told People that Bachelor star Ben Higgins had a similar meltdown after he told two women that he loved them during his season of the show. Higgins famously said the “L” word to both JoJo Fletcher and his eventual fiancée, Lauren Bushnell, and he was clearly tortured by it.

“You’ve seen how emotional Ben gets – he does pull at least a 3/4 Mesnick,” Harrison told People ahead of the Season 20 finale. “He really narrowed it down to two women that he loves and he knows that he’s going to hurt somebody and he knows that he’s going to lose somebody he loves.”

Of course, it’s no wonder that Nick Viall pulled a Mesnick on the upcoming Bachelor season. Viall’s starring stint as The Bachelor marks his fourth attempt at finding love on the ABC franchise. Nick was the runner-up on both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s seasons of The Bachelorette, and he broke things off with Jen Saviano on this season’s Bachelor In Paradise.

Nick Viall told E! News that after three failed attempts at finding love on reality TV, it took him a few days to accept the offer to lead the upcoming season of The Bachelor.

“I was very nervous, but it took me a couple of days. I told them I had to think about it,” Nick told E! “It’s a huge responsibility, but it’s obviously an amazing opportunity, so ultimately, I accepted,” he explained.

And if there’s any doubt as to what Nick Viall’s endgame is, fans should know that he’s still gun shy when it comes to finding the woman he hopes to spend the rest of his life with, but not for the reasons you might expect.

“I’m hopeful I’ll find someone to spend the rest of my life with,” Nick told People. “I couldn’t be more excited to find that amazing connection…I don’t want to pick someone because they’re the last woman standing. My biggest fear isn’t necessarily getting my heart broken. It’s not finding the right one.”

Oh no. Does that mean Nick Viall might pull a Womack, too?
