More Huawei Mate 9 Specs And Image Leaks Emerge As Alleged November 3 Release Nears

A flooding tide of Huawei Mate 9 leaks continues to appear online as its anticipated release this week approaches. Last month, Huawei sent out a press invitation for an event where the company is expected to share its “latest innovations and exciting advances,” reported by GSM Arena. And a popular rumor from the industry noted that the event could witness the official unveiling of its next-gen mobile device, the Mate 9.

The press conference is slated for November 3, and the image of the invite featured in the tweet embedded below comes with a headline that says “A STEP AHEAD.”

The anticipation for the Huawei Mate 9’s release further intensified after the recent appearances of various teasers, which include a TV commercial, hinting that the company could offer significant improvements to the battery life. Although the commercial did not specifically refer to the Huawei Mate 9, the Chinese tech giant ostensibly revealed through an image teaser that the phablet is arriving on November 3 during an event in Munich, Germany.

A report from Android Headlines dated October 28 noted the following.

“Now, Huawei did not mention the Mate 9 in this commercial, but they did confirm that the phablet is coming on November 3rd by releasing an image teaser yesterday, an image which has a huge number ‘9’ in the middle of it, and it also confirms that a ‘Mate’ device is coming.”

If Huawei is indeed putting the spotlight on the Mate 9 during the event, tech fans will only have to wait a few more days to officially meet the latest offering from the Chinese tech conglomerate. However, those who are excessively eager to get release updates, more detailed specs, and renders of the Huawei Mate 9 can feast their eyes, for now, on the most recent images and leaks circulating online that are believed to be for the upcoming smartphone.

For instance, some of the freshest releases we’ve seen are the phone’s live photos, specifically showing the Huawei Mate 9 in gold color. According to a separate GSM Arena post, the Mate 9 in the recent pictures is the Manhattan variant, which is the flat-screen version of the smartphone. A dual-curved model, called the Long Island Huawei Mate 9 Pro, is set for market release as well, reports stated.

But it also seems strange that the recent pictures of the gold Huawei Mate 9 do not show the Leica logo, basically contradicting all previous renders where the camera brand is inscribed on them. Huawei partnered with Leica for the Huawei P9’s camera, so now the Mate 9 is also anticipated to feature the German company’s lenses upon its release.

The English-translated version of a report from Romanian website Mobilissimo also pointed out that the rear panel of the gold Huawei M9 shown in the recent leaks reveals the dual camera setup with flash as well as a laser sensor for quicker and more precise focusing of the subject. There’s also the fingerprint scanner placed on the back of the phone under the camera.

Meanwhile, featured in the Pocketnow report is what looks to be a smartphone screenshot that reportedly contains the render of the Huawei Mate 9 together with its key specs. The photo was originally posted on Weibo, and it is apparently a pre-launch page to be used by China Mobile. Accordingly, one of the highlighted specs included in the photo revealed that Huawei Mate 9’s dual camera will be a combination of a 12MP sensor and a 20MP one.

Moreover, if the specs noted on the image in question are to be believed, Huawei fans will get to experience two fingerprint sensors from the Mate 9. In addition to the sensor located at the back of the phone, a front fingerprint recognition technology will also be featured by the handset device.

As for other purported specs of the Huawei Mate 9, the 5.9-inch smartphone will reportedly be equipped with a QHD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, a Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor plus a 6 GB RAM and 256 GB native storage could be found. The Huawei phablet is also rumored to arrive at launch with Android 7.0 Nougat together with Huawei’s in-house Emotion UI.
