‘Fixer Upper’ Rumors: Chip And Joanna Opening A Restaurant?

Now that Chip and Joanna Gaines have made it clear that they’re going to follow in the footsteps of the Property Brothers and try to translate their HGTV success into a Hollywood run, the latest Fixer Upper rumors suggest that the home improvement couple are turning their sights away from fixing houses in the greater Waco area and turning towards the glamorous world of becoming restaurateurs.

At least, that’s according to the latest Fixer Upper rumors by Refinery29. According to the site, the couple has just bought the historic Elite Cafe in Waco, Texas, and are in the process of remodeling it to fit their standards. Best known for being Elvis Presley’s favorite spot in the 1950s when he was in the army, the Elite Cafe is also known for being a breakfast house, and the couple said that they plan to continue to keep it as a breakfast house after the remodeling is complete.

Said Chip, “I’ve always been a breakfast connoisseur. I always do a heavy, bigger breakfast, but Jo is the exact opposite. She was kind enough to come with me on this one, and we are going to do up a breakfast joint here in town.”

This, of course, is just the latest round of success that the Texas couple is experiencing, especially since, according to the New York Post’s latest round of Fixer Upper rumors, the couple have a hit best-seller with their new book, The Magnolia Story. Written with Mark D’Agostino (best known for co-authoring Hulk Hogan’s autobiography, which seems oddly appropriate), The Magnolia Story debuted in the top spot, with more than 120,000 copies of the book sold, according to Nielsen BookScan.

On the heels of the book’s success, the couple have also decided to up the circulation of their magazine by 50 percent, putting the total number of magazines in print to about 600,000. In total, between the book and the magazine, the couple have almost 2 million copies of their written works in print, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Publishing experts feel that the couple’s recent People Magazine cover really helped their quest for print domination, and their efforts are finally beginning to pay off and take them out of the niche HGTV market.

All of this is just in time for the newest season of Fixer Upper, and according to the latest Fixer Upper rumors released by People Magazine, the Season 4 premiere is due to air next month.

The show, however, almost didn’t happen in the first place, as Chip told the outlet that he thought the offer was “a scam.”

“[I was] like, ‘it’s a scam! Do not call them back! No way, Jose!’ But now, the fact that people watch the show is just an honor. It’s an honor that people are tuned into our family and what we do for a living. How this made such an impact and such a connection with so many people is mind-boggling. Waco, Texas did not have the best reputation on the planet. We had quite a few decades of some pretty unfortunate circumstances and for us to be able to breathe some fresh air into our little town has been a great honor.”

No doubt, then, that the Gaines family will be on our TV screens for a long time to come.
