One Penn State student is hurt after falling from a window in an off-campus building, but authorities have provided scant details on the nature of the young woman’s accident and injuries.

The Penn State student hurt in the five-story fall is varsity cheerleader Paige Raque, 19. Raque is currently listed in critical condition after the accident on Saturday night.

According to local news source WGAL, the Penn State student hurt in the fall suffered a traumatic brain injury and remains hospitalized. The station says:

“Authorities said she fell 39 feet to the parking lot below at the Calder Commons building in downtown State College overnight Saturday … State College police have said the fall appears to have been accidental but an investigation will continue.”

As the Penn State student hurt in the fall recovers, the news station reports that Penn State’s gymnastics coach Randy Jepson is acting as a spokesman for the family and answering media questions. Jepson says her family is by her side as she remains in the hospital.

The site also reports that Raque graduated from a Christian academy in Kentucky in 2011 and that her brother, Parker Raque, is a Penn State gymnastics team captain and attends the university along with his sister.

A spokeswoman for the university, Lisa Powers, commented on the Penn State student injured in the fall, saying:

“We plan to continue to monitor the situation and offer our help with any transitions this student may need to make.”

Powers was able to confirm that Paige Raque was being treated at Altoona Regional Health System but declined to say more about the incident due to the ongoing police investigation.
