Drake, Taylor Swift Romance: Couple Staging Fake PR Stunt To Boost Their Careers?

Drake and Taylor Swift have made endless headlines this past week, with The Daily Beast claiming that they are secretly hooking up after the singer was introduced to Drizzy’s mom, Sandi, earlier this week.

But are they really dating?

No, a source confirms. While their fans were stunned by the initial rumor, which has continued to spark a conversation on social media, Drake and Taylor Swift are definitely not dating — insiders make it known that they are nothing more than friends.

So, why hasn’t the couple come forward and cleared up the allegations?

According to Hollywood Life, both Taylor and Drake are loving the attention right now. With Swift gearing up to work on her next album and the rapper heading back on tour early next year, they both consider this as a great PR stunt to boost their careers one way or the other.

Granted, Taylor has nothing to promote right now, but she does have a reputation to clear up, following her scandals involving Calvin Harris, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Katy Perry.

Swift has made quite the list of enemies in Hollywood this past year, especially after Kim releasing the tape recording of Taylor approving Kanye the usage of his derogatory line about the singer on his song, “Famous.”

Taylor had initially claimed she knew nothing about the song and insinuated that Kanye was bullying her by trying to get her to admit to something she claimed she never said to begin with, which was later proven to have been a lie.

With that in mind, while Drake and Swift are not dating, they are taking in all the attention that’s on them right now, going as far as to like each other’s Instagram photos, which is only adding more speculation concerning their supposed romance.

“They both are liking the talk of a potential relationship and will let it continue, but there is no relationship brewing,” an insider revealed to the outlet.

“Drake would love to do music with her as well and that is certainly a possibility. But right now everything between them is friendly. Working together is a definite future option, but that isn’t happening yet either. Regardless, they are eating up the talk about it.”

Drake has known Taylor for quite some time, but they didn’t become close buddies until the rapper showed up to Swift’s “1989” concert last year. Ever since then, the twosome have been talking all the time, having even discussed plans to collaborate on Taylor’s forthcoming album.

And if there’s anybody that knows a thing or two about PR relationships, it’s Taylor. Her relationship with ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston was also said to have been a publicity stunt romance in order to boost each other’s Hollywood reputation.

Hiddleston was alleged to have hoped he would land the role of James Bond as his next big acting gig by dating Taylor, but the opportunity fell through at the last minute and evidently caused his relationship with Swift to fall apart.

As for Drake, he’s releasing a mixtape later this year, followed by his European tour in 2017. There’s no reason for either of them to confirm or deny the reports, the source concludes. Drake is clearly benefiting from it, and so is Swift.

News of their supposed romance comes just three weeks after Drake was said to have called it quits with on-again, off-again girlfriend, Rihanna.
