Black Friday 2016 Ad Leak Predictions — Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, And Amazon

With Black Friday 2016 less than a month away, the most popular retailers in the United States are preparing for one of the biggest shopping days of the year. In order to get shoppers prepared, they have been releasing a variety of toy lists, toy books, and holiday shopping catalogs. While those catalogs give Americans an idea of what they can expect for this year’s holiday shopping season, everyone really wants to see this year’s Black Friday ads.

A few minor retailers have already released their 2016 Black Friday ad scans, but the excitement has been lukewarm. The good news is that Black Friday is on November 25 this year, which is two days earlier than last year, so everything is going to be pushed forward by a few days.

While nothing is official, Best Black Friday has predicted the key dates for when you can expect ads to leak from Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Amazon, and numerous other popular retailers.

Walmart Predicted Ad Leak Date — November 10, 2016

Easily the most popular store on Black Friday, Walmart’s ad release is an event in itself. Walmart had actually kept their ad from leaking in recent years, but a third-party source posted it early on November 11 of last year. Walmart’s security should be a bit better this year, but it should still come out a day earlier on November 10.

If you do not already have it, consider downloading Walmart’s shopping app. Like other retailers, they may offer an early sneak peak of their Black Friday deals for app users. As Reuters reports, Walmart is sticking to their minimum order size of $50 in order to qualify for free shipping this holiday season.

Target Predicted Ad Leak Date – November 8, 2016

While Target is not quite as popular as Walmart, their Black Friday sale is actually one of the best. Per a report from WalletHub last year, Target offered an average discount of 37.3 percent on Black Friday last year, which was a higher percentage than Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon. Last year’s ad leaked on November 8. In 2014, their ad leaked on November 10. Even though Black Friday is two days earlier this year, Target is likely to stick with the November 8 date.

Best Buy Predicted Ad Leak Date – November 9, 2016

Never one for patience, Best Buy’s ad always seems to come out a day before Walmart’s. While this is most likely planned by Walmart, Best Buy could hold out a few days longer in order for Walmart to show their hand first. That is unlikely to happen for 2016, and Best Buy’s ad should leak around November 9. Last year’s ad leaked on November 9, and the 2014 version leaked on November 10.

Kohl’s Predicted Ad Leak Date – November 7, 2016

Historically a surprise store on Black Friday, Kohl’s has established itself as a major retailer over the past few years. Their selection of electronics rivals what Walmart and Target offer, and their opportunity to earn “Kohl’s Cash” allows for even bigger net discounts. Out of the major retailers, Kohl’s ad usually comes out first. Their 2015 ad leaked on November 6, which is a Sunday this year. Since major ads usually do not leak on a Sunday, expect their 2016 ad to come out on Monday, November 7.

Amazon Predicted Ad Leak Date – November 16, 2016

While Walmart waits until Best Buy releases their ad, Amazon waits until every other store shows their cards. They actually do not release an official Black Friday ad scan, but they do have an annual press release to introduce some of their top items and doorbusters. After this press release comes out, pre-Black Friday deals usually start on their website, and it happens about a week before Thanksgiving. While there are always some solid offers in their early sales, it is in your best interest to wait until Thanksgiving for the real doorbusters.
