A Massachusetts Cop’s Wife Allegedly Staged A Fake Burglary, Blamed It On Black Lives Matter
A Massachusetts police officer’s wife is accused of faking a burglary at her home and then trying to blame it on the Black Lives Matter movement, WBZ (Boston) is reporting.
Police say that on October 17, Maria Daly, the wife of a Millbury police officer, called police to say that her home had been burglarized. She claimed that money and jewelry were stolen and that her house had been vandalized with the letters “BLM” spray-painted on the side – “BLM” being an abbreviation for “Black Lives Matter.”

According to Vibe, Daly then went on social media to try to garner sympathy for her “robbery.”
“We woke up to not only our house being robbed while we were sleeping, but to see this hatred for no reason.”
When police began investigating Daly’s story, however, they found that things didn’t quite add up, Millbury Police Chief Donald Desorcy told WCVB-TV (Boston). For starters, Daly’s husband’s K9 partner was there and acting perfectly normal. Desorcy said that the “trained and active” police dog would have been visibly agitated if his owner’s home had just been burglarized. Instead, he said, the dog was perfectly calm and acting as if nothing had happened – because nothing had happened.
Further, Daly’s husband himself, Millbury police officer Daniel Daly, was at home, sound asleep, throughout the alleged burglary.
“I think that was pretty obvious and as a result of that investigation, the officers did their due diligence and followed through with the investigation that we had. Basically we came to the conclusion that it was all fabricated. There was no intruder, there was no burglary.”
Cops quickly ruled out any involvement from Daniel Daly and concluded that he had no knowledge of what his wife was up to, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
“At this time, there is absolutely no evidence implicating Officer Daly in this matter. He was exonerated. There’s nothing pending against Officer Daly. He was unknown to what was taken place.”

As of this writing, police haven’t publicly offered any possible motive for why Ms. Daly allegedly faked a burglary and tried to blame it on Black Lives Matter). However, some have speculated that the couple was experiencing some unspecified financial difficulties, considering that Maria had reported that $10,000 in cash and jewelry were stolen.

One neighbor told WCVB-TV that Daly probably should have thought things through a little better, considering that her husband is a cop.
“You have to be desperate to try to pull that sort of thing off. When your husband is a cop, and all his friends are cops, it’s just ridiculous. Why would you do that?”
It was a sentiment shared by another neighbor as well.
“She must have tagged the place herself. I don’t know why you’d do that, if you’re gonna stage a robbery, I mean really come on, you’re a cop’s wife. You should know better.”
Maria Daly has been charged with filing a false police report and misleading a police investigation.
