Destiny’s Child Instagram Account Just Launched: Is A Reunion In The Works?

Last week, Destiny’s Child Instagram account was launched quietly, and barely anyone noticed. It wasn’t until this tweet showed up on their official twitter that people noticed.

Shortly after that tweet hit, their official Instagram hit over 20,000 followers. There are only three posts to their account so far. Each picture has a glam throwback picture of the three girls when Destiny’s Child was in its prime accompanied by a juicy trivia tidbit.

The launch of Destiny’s Child Instagram has only served to fuel the rumors that a reunion tour is in the works. The three ladies remain fast friends and have appeared together in public frequently. The three of them were spotted having dinner together the night before the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards. Kelly and Michelle appeared together on the red carpet after hanging out all day.

According to an interview with E! News, the appearance was spontaneous after Kelly asked Michelle, “Do you want to come with me to this event tonight?”

Kelly also addressed the reunion possibilities, saying, “We haven’t even talked anything about that. We’ve just been enjoying each other’s company and love and enjoying being women.”

She said something similar in an interview with Us Weekly, explaining, “It hasn’t been something that we’ve talked about at all. We’ve just been enjoying each other, whether it’s been about our music, whether it’s been about motherhood or our personal lives. That’s what it’s really been about. That’s been the most beautiful part.”

Those responses are very similar and honestly sound a bit rehearsed. After all, it’s hard to imagine that the three of them haven’t talked about getting back together. They’ve been on stage numerous times since that farewell performance in 2006 at the NBA All-Star Game. Whether it’s appearing in each other’s video’s (like Kelly and Michelle did in Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied”) or recording new songs together (such as “Nuclear” on their fourth compilation album, Love Songs, in 2013), there’s no stopping these women.

The three women also appeared together on Beyonce’s tour in Los Angeles on September 2, 2007, singing a little bit of “Survivor” and then singing “Happy Birthday” to Beyonce.

They also got back together in 2013 for a famous reunion during the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show, singing “Bootylicious,” “Independent Women,” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

This isn’t the first time that the trio has worked to squash any rumors about an impending reunion. Back before their appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show, Michelle Williams was asked by WRUG Radio about rumors that Destiny’s Child would be appearing together.

She told them, “That’s not confirmed. It is rumored. I’m gonna be in the musical Fela!. I hate to disappoint the people and tell them that it’s not true.”

They last played together in March at the 30th Annual Stellar Awards in Las Vegas, where Michelle Williams picked up an award for Music Video of the Year at the annual gospel music awards for her song, “Say Yes.”

The rumors are flying around the official launch of the Destiny’s Child Instagram primarily because next year marks Destiny’s Child’s 20th anniversary. Michelle told E! News back in 2013 after the Super Bowl appearance that it would take something pretty amazing and worthwhile to get Destiny’s Child back together again. A 20th anniversary certainly counts as that.

You know that Destiny’s Child isn’t going to let such a landmark anniversary pass without doing something. After all, it’s like Queen Beyonce said herself in the official announcement that Destiny’s Child was splitting: It wasn’t a breakup, it was just a little break.
