Hillary Clinton Emails Latest News: Republican FBI Director James Comey Using Weiner Emails To Drop Clinton In Election Polls Results Before 2016 Election Day?

Across the country, “Hillary Clinton emails latest news” was being typed in by desperate Donald Trump supporters grasping at the most recent straw presented to them by FBI Director James Comey – which is related to an examination of disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner’s email. Will this latest tenuous link impact Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in the election polls results, and is that what the Republican FBI Director intended?

As reported by the Associated Press, FBI Director James Comey yesterday notified Congress he was re-examining the Clinton email investigation – which he closed months ago with no recommendation for prosecution – based on just the implied possibility that there might be something in Anthony Weiner’s email connecting him to the previous Hillary Clinton email investigation.

To have this happen only days before election day – and with Hillary Clinton far ahead of Donald Trump in most election polls – suggests the possibility that Director Comey might be attempting to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. It’s virtually unprecedented for an FBI Director to send a letter to Congress to announce he’s reopening an investigation, so it seems possible that Comey is using the Clinton/Weiner emails “scandal” to save the Trump campaign.

Alternatively, Comey and other Republicans might be hoping that – even if this blatant interference in the electoral process doesn’t save Trump – it might be sufficient to save Republicans in the House and Senate from a Clinton landslide. This latest message from Director Comey seems like a throwback to the J. Edgar Hoover days at the FBI.

Latest news and breaking news are terms used frequently by Internet and cable news outlets in the relentless 24-hour news cycle. People are ravenous to know what’s going on from minute to minute. This makes it easy to manipulate the news media with statements like the latest one released by James Comey.

“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation… I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.”

The most telling news in the FBI Director’s latest statement was the bit that said, “to determine whether they contain classified information.” Essentially, he’s saying that the FBI has found absolutely nothing at all in the Weiner emails that might implicate Hillary Clinton in any way. But he’s nonetheless notifying Congress – that despite the fact he’s found nothing – he’s still investigating.

Clinton Response to Latest News

As reported by ABC News, the Clinton campaign seems to recognize that this apparent Republican effort to shift the 2016 election narrative depends on the vagueness of the FBI Director’s news. So in response, John Podesta – the Clinton campaign chairman – insisted that Comey “… provide the American public more information than is contained in the letter he sent to eight Republican committee chairmen.”

“Already, we have seen characterizations that the FBI is ‘reopening’ an investigation but Comey’s words do not match that characterization… Director Comey’s letter refers to emails that have come to light in an unrelated case, but we have no idea what those emails are and the Director himself notes they may not even be significant. It is extraordinary that we would see something like this just 11 days out from a presidential election.”

So there apparently is no “Hillary Clinton emails latest news” at all. Instead, this is likely only a last-minute desperate attempt by Republicans – in the person of the current FBI Director James Comey – to either boost Donald Trump in the polls or to prevent Republicans from losing their majority in the Senate and the House.
