Jennie Garth: ‘I’ve Tried Reaching Out To Amanda Bynes,’ But No Success

Troubled actress Amanda Bynes is reportedly giving her parents the cold shoulder, but they’re not the only “family” she’s been ignoring. She’s also giving former co-star Jennie Garth the silent treatment.

Garth, who played Bynes’ sister from 2002 to 2006 on the WB sitcom What I Like About You, told Us Weekly about her attempts to reach out to the young actress, whose celebrity has been tarnished recently by run-ins with the law and a handful of reports alleging eccentric behavior. The 40-year-old actress talked a bit about her efforts to touch base with Bynes at the ELLE Women in Hollywood event in Beverly Hills, California.

“I tried reaching out to her and I haven’t been able to reach her,” said Garth of her former co-star. “My heart feels for whatever she is going through, and I love her dearly.”

Bynes’ agent, publicists, and lawyer have all reportedly given up on her, while her parents, dentist Rick and office manager Lynn, have been helpless in their attempts to contact their daughter, reports MSN. “Amanda shut them out and isn’t speaking to them,” said a source of the troubled relationship between Bynes and her parents.

Bynes’ last film was 2010’s Easy A, and, since then, she has retired, un-retired, and retired again from acting, moved to New York to start a fashion career, and exhibited increasingly strange behavior. Following an April DUI arrest and two alleged hit-and-runs, Bynes’ BMW was impounded in early September, and she has been spotted muttering to herself and talking to inanimate objects at various times since.

“Amanda is out of control,” a source said of the actress. “It’s been slowly going on for years, but now it’s getting really bad.”

Do you think that Amanda Bynes is out of control? Should she maybe drop a line to former co-star Jennie Garth and tell her she’s doing alright? Sound off!
