In an event that can change the course of the campaign. President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney will face off in the second Presidential debate. You can watch the action by following the link below.
During the first debate, it was widely seen as a landslide victory by the challenger, Governor Mitt Romney. At the time of the first Presidential debate Romney was behind in the polls and it was predicted he would need to really step up at the debate in order to regain momentum and change the direction of his campaign.
For the Romney campaign it was mission accomplished.
President Obama will need to regain that momentum in this upcoming debate in order to show the country that his vision for America is going to be what the people hope. This is no ordinary debate either. It is a town hall debate where the candidates are going to get to speak directly to a group of undecided voters and answer their questions.History has not been kind to those who took the Town Hall debate to lightly.
In 1992, President George H. W. Bush forgot that during the debate there were still cameras on him even though he was not answering a question and he took a second to check his watch. The audience and the viewers at home saw this as a weakness an he went on to lose that election to then Arkansas Governor William Jefferson Clinton.
in 2000, Vice-President Al Gore had been seen as boring and dry during the first Presidential debate so he came out swinging at the second debate, a town hall. When then Governor George W. Bush was answering a question Gore decided to get uncomfortably close to Bush in order to try to physically intimidate him. George W. Bush gave him a playful nod and cemented the view that Gore was a stiff boring politician and Bush was a funny easy going guy. Bush went on to beat Gore for the Presidency.
