Calvin Harris Shades Taylor Swift In New Music Video, Rumored Boyfriend Drake ‘Enamored’ By Taylor

Hollywood Life is reporting that Calvin Harris’ new video for his song “My Way” may contain some very pointed Taylor Swift references.

The report points out that there are many parallels between “My Way” and Taylor Swift’s videos for her songs “Blank Space” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Both Taylor and Calvin’s videos feature tense scenes where lovers face off across a dining room table, and scenes where a woman stands atop a horse.

In addition to this, Calvin’s “My Way” features a scene where a girl levitates, striking a pose that is almost identical to a pose Taylor strikes in “Bad Blood.”

Finally, Calvin decides to include a scene where he faces off with his love interest while she wears a dominatrix-style outfit. The scene resembles the climax of “Bad Blood” when the factions in Taylor Swift’s squad face off, walking toward each other in black vinyl outfits.

“While we’re on the subject of ‘Bad Blood,’ here’s another similarity between the two vids — Calvin and his lead girl stand face to face while she’s in a black, dominatrix-style outfit, which reminds us SO much of when Tay and her squad strut toward one another at the end of ‘Bad Blood.'”

The Hollywood Life writer acknowledges that they could be “looking WAY too into this,” and asks fans what they think.

A separate report by Elle magazine agrees that there are some striking parallels.

Elle argues that Calvin may have put a robotic lead woman in his video to send a message that “it wasn’t real” with Taylor. The DJ spoke out about how Taylor Swift controlled the media and the PR around the time of their breakup. Harris even stated that he didn’t know what was going on in the aftermath of the breakup because Taylor Swift took such total control of the media narrative.

Calvin was especially shocked when Taylor Swift came forward saying that she wrote the lyrics and melody for Harris’ track “This Is What You Came For,” which eventually won Calvin a VMA. Harris hit back, saying that he wrote the music and beats for the song and only kept Taylor’s involvement private because she asked him to. Calvin said that Taylor’s move seemed like a deliberate attempt to make him look bad, and blasted her actions as “hurtful.”

Luckily for Calvin, there was some other news around at the time that raised questions about Taylor Swift’s honesty and ability to negotiate in good faith. Around the time of the Calvin Harris “This Is What You Came For” scandal, Kim Kardashian-West released a clip of a phone conversation Taylor had with Kanye West. Kim’s video appeared to expose Taylor as a liar, demonstrating that Taylor had given Kanye the go-ahead to include some risque lines about her in his track “Famous.” Taylor privately approved the lyrics, but publicly blasted them as sexist, according to The Verge.

“In the footage posted on Snapchat, West asks Swift for permission to use a version of the line over the phone from his studio. She gives her consent and thanks him for bringing the line to her before recording and releasing it.”

Back to the new Calvin Harris video. Elle states that the glitch art aesthetic of “My Way” video — particularly the scenes where the girl keeps disappearing and reappearing — may have been selected because of the long-distance nature of the relationship between Calvin and Taylor, which was always dissolving then re-forming. Calvin and Taylor’s love was sustained by digital catch-ups, FaceTimes, and other computer-aided forms of bonding, but in the end it dissolved completely.

Hollywood Life reports that Taylor Swift has well and truly moved on from Calvin Harris. Taylor has caught the eye of Drake, who is said to be “enamored” by the “Bad Blood” singer.

Some outlets have reported that Drake and Taylor Swift are dating. According to Hollywood Life, Drake was thrilled just to be around Taylor when she attended his recent party. In fact, Drake was so starstruck that his ex, Rihanna, is said to have become jealous.

Apparently Katy Perry, who also attended Drake’s bash, had to reassure Rihanna that Taylor Swift was not as smooth as reports made out, and Taylor was not the life of the party. Katy apparently said that Taylor Swift danced “like a robot that was short of many fuses.”

“Katy was laughing at Taylor and told Rih that [she] looked like a robot that was short of many fuses when she was dancing at the party. They both got a huge chuckle out of that. Katy assured Rih that Tay Tay was not the life of the party.”
