Lisa Marie Presley and dad Elvis will duet in a new single described as “emotional,” despite the musical legend’s death more than 30 years ago.

The Lisa Marie and Elvis duet will be released more than 30 years after the death of “The King” at the age of 42 due to what is believed to have been a sudden and violent cardiac arrest.

The Lisa Marie and Elvis duet is a song “I Love You Because,” released back in August to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Elvis’ death and originally shown to 25,000 fans at a memorial concert in Memphis on the 16th of that month, the anniversary of the singer’s passing.

But Lisa Marie has expressed a desire to “stop fighting” her legacy as Elvis’ daughter and embrace that identity, finally, at the age of 44. The song “I Love You Because” was an early track of Presley’s, retired in the mid-50s after Elvis’ producer Sam Phillips felt the track was not well-suited for an upcoming album. Elvis reportedly never sang the song again.

For the anniversary, the Lisa Marie and Elvis duet was suggested by producer T-Bone Burnett as a nod to fans, and Elvis’ only daughter appeared in the video along with her twins Finley and Harper, daughter Riley and son Benjamin. Of the moving Lisa Marie and Elvis duet, CMT’s Leslie Fram, SVP of music strategy, said:

“We were really moved when we saw this video … Lisa Marie and her team were thrilled and so gracious to allow this to be shared.”
