Amy Schumer Becomes First Woman On Highest Paid Comedians List, Watch Schumer Handle A Sexist Heckler

Amy Schumer has made history this month by becoming the first woman on the list of the highest-paid comedians, according to Travelers Today. The 35-year-old Inside Amy Schumer star grossed $17 million this year.

Kevin Hart topped the list with a whopping $87.5 million, which is over five times higher than Amy Schumer’s 2016 earnings. The comedian made her millions thanks to her stand-up tour in collaboration with fellow comedian Aziz Ansari, her hit show Inside Amy Schumer, and a lucrative book deal.

Amy Schumer’s record is impressive; even in 2016, when people say “standup comedian,” they think of a man holding a microphone and cracking jokes in front of a live audience.

Despite making the list and making great efforts toward minimizing the gender wage gap, Amy Schumer recently became a victim of sexist comments during one of her stand-up shows, according to the Daily Mail.

In her interview with Australia’s Stellar magazine, the Inside Amy Schumer star opened up about the incident when a heckler called out for her to show her “t*ts.” The comedian says that the incident was very depressing and that it was like “having an Internet troll in front of you.”

“It’s funny because it’s gone so viral and I didn’t say anything particularly funny. I have clips where I’ve handled hecklers in ways I’m really proud of, but this was very basic.”

But Amy Schumer didn’t just ignore the heckler. She made him the punchline of her jokes. The comedian had a great deal of fun mocking the heckler before he was thrown out from the venue in Stockholm, Sweden.

In fact, Amy Schumer took to Facebook to post the video of the incident. It shows that the comedian was just starting her monologue when the heckler in the audience loudly asked Schumer to show her “t*ts.”

But Amy Schumer didn’t ignore the heckler and asked the audience to point at the loud man. She then asked the heckler to come onstage, but he didn’t. Then the comedian saw his soccer shirt and asked him it said.

The man, a bit confused, revealed with a smug grin on his face that his shirt says “Love p**sies.” And Amy Schumer made a series of jokes about the man, trying to figure out how he makes his living.

“Now don’t get shy, what do you do for a living? Sales? How’s that working out? Is it going well because we ain’t buying it?”

When security guards approached the man to throw him out of the venue, Amy Schumer asked them to not touch the heckler but warned him that he would get kicked out if he interrupts her gig again.

“That’s really cute, but if you yell out again you’re going to be yelling ‘Show us your t*ts’ in the parking lot motherf***er.”

Amy Schumer then added that she would show her “t*ts” when she wants, but when the heckler yelled out again despite the warning, the comedian once again gave him a chance.

This time, Amy Schumer asked the audience to decide the heckler’s fate.

“Clap if you think we should throw him out.”

And then it was clear that nobody wanted to keep the heckler at the venue, and security guards escorted the loud man out. Even though it was a rough start of her performance, Amy Schumer still had a great time throughout her gig in Sweden.

Watch the whole incident play out here, but be warned that the video contains strong language.

Amy Schumer’s national stand-up tour includes a number of locations around the United States.
