WWE ‘Hell In A Cell’: Sasha Banks Versus Charlotte Flair Could Reignite Old School Fan Love For Wrestling

The excitement for a WWE’s Hell In A Cell match of this caliber couldn’t be stronger.

Let’s face it: wrestling isn’t what it used to be. It certainly isn’t as good as it was during the days of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. If we go back even further, it doesn’t hold a candle to the likes of Sting and the days of the Ultimate Warrior. We’re moving into a new day (no tag team pun intended), and WWE Superstars are in demand.

WWE’s Hell In A Cell is a huge symbol that fans need not look any further. We have two of the greatest competitors of the WWE roster, Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair, going head to head. This match has been in the making for quite some time, but it’s what this event symbolizes that sparks a flame in an old school fan’s heart. If you’ve been part of the WWE and WWF portions of wrestling, then the importance shouldn’t be lost on you.

Hell In A Cell has always demanded the greatest of effort. Sasha Banks, a breakout WWE Superstar who has held the title of WWE Raw’s Women’s Champion, is a force to be reckoned with. She sits in the ranks with the likes of Trish Stratus and Lita, though she doesn’t have to be in “bra and panties” to do it. This is more than a pretty face. Furthermore, Banks sees it as a huge honor, according to a report by ESPN.

Sasha had this to say in regards to being part of the main event.

“Of course it’s every performer’s dream to be the main event and I think this match is big enough and special enough because it’s a first-time ever,” Banks began.

“That right there, that’s history. You can’t take that away from us. But whether we are the first or the middle, we are going to steal the show like we always do.”

Charlotte Flair is no slouch herself. WWE’s Hell In A Cell has always been a huge event, and Flair is just as prepared as Banks to fight for the glory. As the daughter of Ric “Nature Boy” Flair, she seems to have much to prove. Her skills in the ring are noticeable, and she’s just as much a threat to Banks as Banks is to her. Ric Flair recently conducted an interview with Sports Illustrated, and he had this to say in regards to Charlotte’s abilities.

“She has moves to show off that you’re not going to believe, as long as she lives through it,” Flair said.

“She isn’t afraid of anything, and she’s going to go out and make a statement again — and there is no talking her out of it. You didn’t see me do any moonsaults off the top of a cage, but she has something really special in mind for the cage.”

With these two WWE Superstars going into the main event, it’s a nod to the women of the sport who haven’t been taken seriously. It was common for viewers to change the channel during the women’s segment of wrestling. It was even more common for women to be seen as nothing more than “eye candy” in earlier years. This time, however, all eyes and ears are on Sasha and Charlotte.

Will WWE’s Hell In A Cell live up to expectation? It certainly seems that way. It’s hard to imagine that Sasha and Charlotte won’t put on a show, as their rivalry seems as fierce as any. Banks has taken the title from Charlotte consistently, and you can bet that Charlotte is coming for what she believes is hers.

Living in the past is great for nostalgic purposes. Think about it: who doesn’t love a compilation of The Rock’s greatest Rock Bottoms or the symphony of Shawn Michaels and his Sweet Chin Music? If there was ever a moment for redemption in the minds of those who have fallen off the WWE wagon? Tonight is as great a time as any.

How do you feel about the WWE’s Hell In A Cell main event between Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair? As an old school fan, do you believe that this will reignite wrestling’s popularity with older generations? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
