James Otis: Millionaire Who Destroyed Trump’s Walk Of Fame Star Reveals Why He Did It [Video]

James Otis, the man who confessed to destroying Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star with a pick-ax, has revealed the reason why he did it, The Daily Mail is reporting. The 52-year-old, heir to the Otis Elevator Company which made over $12 billion in 2015, said he destroyed the Trump’s star as a show of solidarity for the women who had accused the Republican nominee of sexual misconduct.

“He’s a serial liar and misogynist and that’s why we’re here: to try to address that and help those women, who told Mr. Trump they won’t stand for it anymore.”

James Otis was caught on camera destroying Trump’s star on Wednesday around 5:45 a.m., a time he knew there would be few bystanders around and hardly any police officers to call him to order. According to the 52-year-old, he said he originally intended to dig out the whole star, auction it, and give the money raised to the 11 women who had accused the Manhattan billionaire of sexual assault.

When James realized that he did not have the right tools to remove the star, he settled for the brass letters that spelled Trump and the TV emblem that hallmarked the billionaire’s achievements with the reality TV show The Apprentice.

The “non-violent activist” who said in a video that he identified with the alleged sexual assault victims because he had family members who had been victims as well, revealed he was going to turn himself in after the act and “put a spotlight on sexual violence in this country.” The heir apparent to the Otis Elevator Company which employs over 65,000 people said he had been arrested 25 times and counted it an “honor” to meet Trump in court.

“I’m not frightened of him a bit. He’s just a bully… hopefully… he will take more concern over the women he’s been predatory towards.”

In a video that captured James Otis, he is seen trying to deface the tourist star attraction, which is worth $30,000, with an ax and sledgehammer, surrounded by plastic construction barriers and plastic cones. Otis is also seen trying to uproot the brass letters and emblem with his fingers. He was still at it when a police cruiser approached the scene around 6:15 a.m. at which time he fled.

Trump’s star on the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard has been targeted ever since he was picked as the GOP candidate. In July, a barbed wire fence was erected around the star replete with American flags.

Earlier this month, a photographer who had been documenting reactions to the star revealed images showing the symbol garnished with a Bernie Sanders sticker and at another time smeared with ketchup.

Otis had planned to hold a press conference the following morning at the exact location where he defaced Trump’s star with his lawyer and turn himself over to authorities. He was arrested before he could that. He is out on a $20,000 bail.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pointed out that the damage caused by the “non-violent activist” was estimated at $2,500. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has already called a repair crew to fix the star, which would take a week. The felony charge could see the 52-year-old spend over three years in jail and fork out a fine of over $10,000 if found guilty.

“I think I’ll have to handle the consequences of what I’ve done. I will gladly pay the money if I have to and if I must go to jail, I will.”

James Otis is due in court November 18.

James Otis is a relation of Elisha Otis, the man who revolutionized elevators with the invention of a safety device that stops them from falling. Presently, Otis is the CEO of the Otis Lambert Financial Group LLC which generates capital for financial services projects and real estate.

The controversial activist first hogged the headlines in 2009 when he sold a collection of Mahatma Gandhi memorabilia to airline magnate and Kingfisher lager owner Vijay Mallya for $1.8 million and tried to get it back.
