‘Westworld’ Theories: Here’s What Fans Think About What’s Actually Going On In This HBO Hit Sci-Fi Series

Westworld fan theories about what is really happening in the sinister western theme park populated with the lifelike androids is starting to spread around the internet like wildfire.

Westworld is based on a film starring Yul Brynner from 1973. According to The Daily Beast, the show teases fans in almost every episode that they will reveal what the heck is going on in this sinister western theme park. Because the show has yet to reveal the truth behind what is actually happening, fans have had no choice but to develop their own Westworld theories.

If you follow Westworld or don’t mind spoilers, keep reading to see what some of the best fan theories are. Keep in mind, as these are just fan theories about the series, they should be viewed as nothing more than rumors or speculations. The truth is, theories are all fans have to rely on because no one really knows what the heck is going on in Westworld.

Twisted Psychological Experiment

Polygon questions whether or not the entire theme park could be some sort of “twisted psychology experiment.” The founder of the park claims to know everything that is going on at the park. If that is true, Robert Ford has to be aware of the fact that the Man in Black has arrived to find the center of the maze. Does the park founder want him to find the center?

Westworld Fan Theories On Twitter

Some fans of the show have even taken to Twitter to share their theories about what the heck is going on in this park. Check out some of these theories below.

Bernard Isn’t Human

From the very beginning of the show, there have been fan theories claiming that there had to be androids in the series being passed off as humans. Now, some of these theories are pointing directly to Bernard. Is it possible that Bernard is only trusted by Ford and only super skilled at repairing androids because he actually is an android? Some fans have pointed out the fact that while Bernard wears glasses, he doesn’t appear to actually need them to see things with the way they sit at the end of his nose.

The Series Is Actually A Sequel To The Film

The relationship between the 1973 film and the television series Westworld has never been made clear. However, the series makes frequent references to some disaster that took place in the park three decades ago. These frequent references are the biggest reasons why some fan theories about the show question whether or not the series is a sequel to the movie.

Fans Are Reading Into The Script Too Much

Is it possible that none of the Westworld theories fans are creating hold any water? Are fans reading too much into the script? Are they so into the series that they are making things up and seeing things that are not really there? It is certainly ironic that one of the biggest theories about the show is that fans are overreacting and there isn’t actually some deep dark secret the show is hiding. Could what is actually going on be right in front of the viewers?

For example, as stated previously, some fans have pointed out the fact that Bernard wears glasses at the end of his face and doesn’t actually use them to see anything. Are fans just looking too closely at the actors and drawing conclusions that shouldn’t be drawn? With this example, it is possible that the glasses are just a prop and the actor behind Bernard doesn’t really need them to see anything. Or, fans could be right and he could be an android. Truthfully, no one really knows.

What theories have you come up with about what is really going on in Westworld? Do you think fans of the show will ever find out what is actually going on or do you think that fans are overreacting? Is it really possible there isn’t some deep dark secret? Share your favorite fan theories and your thoughts on what is going on in this sinister park in the comments section below.
