Johnny Depp is entering the literary world. The famous actor is starting a publishing imprint and will soon release a book about Bob Dylan and a novel by Woody Guthrie.

According to the Washington Post, Depp’s publishing imprint will run under the same name as his production company Infinitum Nihil, which means “Nothing is forever.” Depp already has a Bob Dylan book, The Unraveled Tales of Bob Dylan, and a Woody Guthrie novel, House Of Earth, in the pipeline.

The Unraveled Tales of Bob Dylan will “set the record straight” about the iconic singer’s past and will be based on several interviews the singer did with historian Douglas Brinkley. Depp plans on releasing the Dylan book by 2015. House Of Earth, a novel written by Guthrie in 1947, is scheduled for January.

Brinkley said:

“Bob has been very warm and forthcoming with us. His music has inspired us both deeply since we were teenagers.”

Depp’s publishing imprint will work with HarperCollins Publishers.

Depp said in a statement:

“I pledge, on behalf of Infinitum Nihil, that we will do our best to deliver publications worthy of peoples’ time, of peoples’ concern, publications that might ordinarily never have breached the parapet … For this dream realized, we would like to salute HarperCollins for their faith in us and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship together.”

Depp is best known for his acting but he does have a few close ties to the literary world. He was a good friend of Hunter S. Thompson and helped bring two of Dr. Gonzo’s famous novels,  Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas and The Rum Diary, to life on the silver screen. He also played a writer in Secret Window and Finding Neverland. 

Depp is also tied into the realm of music. Depp played in several garage bands in the 1980s and has recently stepped on stage to play guitar with people like Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Aerosmith, and the Black Keys.
