‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’: Did Dominic Just Reveal A Link To ‘Freak Show’ In Episode 7?

A throwaway line in Episode 7 of American Horror Story: Roanoke could be a vital clue to how all the season of AHS are connected. Did you miss it?

Spoiler alert: This article discusses FX’s American Horror Story: Roanoke. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

Episode 7 of American Horror Story: Roanoke expanded on the new documentary within the show, Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell. Viewers got to see the actors coming to the realization that what the real owners of the Roanoke house had said all along was actually true: everything really happened. But it took a few deaths for the full comprehension to sink in.

However, before all of the horror began, Dominic (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) has a confession to make. Using the confessional box set up in the house, he told viewers that Sidney (Cheyenne Jackson) had paid him to return to the house and cause conflict between the real Shelby (Lily Rabe) and Matt (Andre Holland). “Sid has me wired and ready to ruin these people’s lives,” he told viewers after putting on a hidden camera necklace.

It was during this confessional that Dominic also made the following statement.

“You know what I love about reality TV the most? The bad guy. Puck, Omarosa, the crazy b**ch with the fake leg. Yeah, I did my homework.”

In Episode 7 of American Horror Story: Roanoke, Dominic confesses that he is happy to be the bad guy, and that he has done his homework into some of the most notorious villains in reality TV history. Puck, of course, refers to David “Puck” Rainey, a contestant on The Real World: San Francisco. Puck was an antagonistic character in this show who did not get along well with the other people in the house. Members ended up voting to evict Puck from the house rather than have another housemate (whom Puck had clashed with) leave.

Omarosa was the super villain from the first season of Donald Trump’s The Apprentice. Omarosa has always denied her “villain” label, liking to call herself a “a shrewd businesswoman” instead.

The third person Dominic mentions is unnamed. Those who have watched The Real Housewives of New York City will know he is likely referencing Aviva Drescher, who threw her prosthetic leg at Carole Radziwill.

But what if FX just made a sneaky reference to American Horror Story: Freak Show? In Season 4 of American Horror Story, Jessica Lange played a character called Elsa Mars. Elsa had prosthetic lower limbs thanks to men sawing off her legs in a snuff movie.

In AHS Freak Show, Elsa had two prosthetic legs, whereas Dominic references only one limb. However, considering all seasons of American Horror Story are interconnected according to an interview Ryan Murphy did with Entertainment Weekly, could it have been a sneaky way to connect Roanoke to Freak Show?

But how would Dominic even know about Elsa Mars?

Could it be possible the shows are interlinked because all seasons of American Horror Story could have their own reality shows such as Roanoke has My Roanoke Nightmare and Return to Roanoke. Considering how different AHS Roanoke is to previous seasons of American Horror Story, some fans have suggested the theory that Roanoke will finally reveal that each season of AHS actually has its own correlating reality show. This would be an excellent way to explain why the same actors have appeared over several seasons of American Horror Story, yet played different characters.

While there has been no direct and conclusive evidence, so far, suggesting each season of AHS has its own reality show, and Dominic is probably referencing The Real Housewives of New York City, some fans would like to think this is the first tentative link. However, viewers will have to keep watching American Horror Story to find out if this is true or not.
