Vick Urges Students To Halt Animal Cruelty

Hunting Park, PA (AHN) – Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said Tuesday he wished he could have taken it all back, reiterating his remorse for his role in a dogfighting ring that sent him to federal prison for 18 months.
Vick spoke in front of ninth graders at Nueva Esperanza Academy, where he was joined by his former critic, U.S. Humane Society president Wayne Pacelle.
He urged students to resist peer pressure and to maintain their focus of reaching college and realizing their dreams.
Saying that everyone should be leaders and not followers, Vick stressed that prison life has been the toughest point of his career, especially after doing what he termed as a foolish act.
Vick is expected to frequently grace several Humane Society events in the next few months as part of the signal caller’s commitment to help solve dogfighting problems in the country.
He was signed on a one-year deal last month by the Eagles following a reinstatement by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in July.
Vick suited up with Philadelphia in the preseason and was given the green light to play in the regular season as early as Week 3.
