‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13 Spoilers: Jo And Alex Are ‘Dunzo,’ Is He Leaving Seattle Grace? [Sneak Peek]

Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy is underway, and another love triangle is about to take over Grey Sloan Memorial. The series has featured a number of love triangles over the years, and it now looks like one is about to form between Alex, Jo, and Andrew.

Does this mean that Jo is getting ready to move on to DeLuca? According to Stopru, Alex’s relationship with Jo spiraled out of control following the Season 12 finale.

Things were already going downhill for the couple when Alex decided to beat up DeLuca because he thought the intern was making a move on his lady. Once everyone found out that Alex nearly beat DeLuca to death, his medical license was suspended, and he is still facing the possibility of prison before it’s all over.

In the middle of it all, Jo decided that she had enough and ended their relationship. Of course, Jo has a few dark secrets of her own. This includes the fact that she is still married, and her ex-husband was physically abusive. Given Jo’s history with violent abuse, dumping Alex was a no brainer.

To complicate things even more, it now appears like Jo and DeLuca are starting to warm up to each other. Not only are the characters in more scenes together, but fans have also expressed an interest in seeing them together. Whether or not Shonda Rhimes takes notice and writes a romance for the friends is yet to be seen.

The only thing that is certain is that Alex has an uphill battle ahead if he wants to remain a part of Grey Sloan Memorial. In addition to awaiting the decision of the court, Bustle reports that Alex is spending his days working in the Denny Duquette Memory Clinic. Alex is lucky to still be practicing medicine at all, but it now sounds like Catherine Avery is pushing Bailey to fire him for good.

Catherine has a lot of pull at the hospital and is one of the facilities biggest donors. In a new promo trailer for the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy, she is shown saying that she doesn’t want Alex around the hospital any longer. If Catherine gets her way, then Alex might be making an early exit from the show this season, which definitely wouldn’t sit well with Justin Chamber fans.

Whatever happens, Alex is not going to get away without facing some consequences.

Meanwhile, Camilla Luddington, who plays Jo on the hit medical drama, recently sat down with Cosmopolitan and dished on Jo’s future with Alex.

“Well, I think there are pros and cons to them being together,” Luddington shared. “I think the pro is that they’ve had very similar experiences growing up. And actually, before these recent events, we’ve seen them be very understanding and not judging of each other’s pasts.”

Although Jo’s future with Alex isn’t looking good, Luddington admitted that it’s hard not to see them together.

“But it’s hard not to root for them, because at the same time, they’re really in love with each other!” she stated. “…I don’t know if they’ll ever be good at communicating. But I root for them, even though I understand why some people think they can’t be together.”

In terms of Jo’s friendships with her co-workers, Luddington revealed that she now has an opportunity to spend more time with those she loves.

“I think she has the opportunity, now that that wall is up and she’s taking a step back from Alex, to show what Single Jo is like,” she revealed. “We’ve literally only seen her without a boyfriend for maybe half of season nine. I’m interested to see what she looks like away from a long-term relationship, and how she does maybe evolve this season, and what she does in terms of deciding to talk about her past.”

Does this mean that Jo and DeLuca will spark up a romance?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Giacomo Gianniotti explained how DeLuca and Jo would grow closer this season.

“Andrew feels like an outcast at this point,” the actor shared. “He’s gone through this really hard thing and doesn’t have anybody to talk to about it, so in Jo, he sees an ally, comrade and someone who not only understands where he’s coming from but was actually there.”

However, Gianniotti stopped short of admitting that DeLuca and Jo will start dating. Apparently, DeLuca is still fearful of what Alex might do if he found out.

“People keep asking, ‘Are they getting together?’ and ‘Is it a romantic thing?’ and it could develop into that, but right now it’s a friendship — two people who are happy to have someone to talk to,” he stated. “Alex might beat me up again if I go for his girl! So I would ask Andrew to tread lightly in that direction.”
