2016 Election Polls Results For Trump And Clinton Secret Reason For Donald Trump Campaign Rigged Election Claims And Efforts At Voter Suppression

Election polls results make it fairly clear that not only is Hillary Clinton going to win, but she’s going to win in a landslide. As Donald Trump and his campaign – and the entire Republican Party – look into the abyss of a disastrous election day on November 8, they are starting to grasp at straws. Two of those straws are their claims of a rigged election and their attempts to suppress votes in Democratic-leaning areas.

The Recent Election Polls

Results from the most recent polls show that Donald Trump is losing and losing badly. The latest ABC News tracking poll shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump 51 to 44. The current Economist/YouGov 2016 presidential poll has Clinton with a five-point lead in a four-person race.

Even worse for Donald Trump, the latest CNBC poll shows Hillary Clinton with a nine-point lead in a four-person race and a 10-point lead in a two-person race. The results of these numbers will mean a Hillary Clinton administration, but it also suggests that the Democrats will probably get the Senate and could possibly get the House back.

Trump’s Rigged Election Accusations

Given that Donald Trump appears to be going down in flames, his campaign has become increasingly desperate to find a way to prevent what seems inevitable. Trump’s response has been to suggest that the recent election polls results reflect media bias and that the entire election is rigged. Trump says this despite the fact that out of the last 1 billion votes cast in the United States, there have been only 31 verified incidents of voter fraud.

And precisely how one would go about rigging an election in the United States – which has an entirely open election process – is not made clear by Donald Trump or his campaign minions. But even if – as seems obvious – Trump’s allegation of a rigged election is false, it at least provides him with a face-saving way of pretending he didn’t really lose.

The problem with Trump’s rigged election claims is that his followers might actually believe them. As CBS News reports, many Trump supporters are crying out that a revolution is called for if Donald Trump loses the 2016 election. Regardless of the margin that Hillary Clinton wins by, thanks to Donald Trump’s accusations and insinuations, these people will never accept the results.

Voter Suppression in the 2016 Election

Poll results mean nothing to the aforementioned Trump supporters. Because they live in an echo chamber of right-wing online sites and Fox News, they find it inconceivable Donald Trump could be losing. After all, everyone they know is voting for him.

This is why so many of them are responding so enthusiastically to Donald Trump’s call for “poll watchers” to keep an eye on areas where he claims voter fraud will be rampant. Oddly enough, these areas tend to be inner cities with predominantly minority populations that usually vote Democratic. That this is the results of Donald Trump’s accusations are hardly a coincidence.

The truth of this polls-watching program by Donald Trump and his conspiracy theory followers is that it is not actually an attempt to prevent voter fraud or illegal voting. Instead, it’s a clearly designed effort at voter suppression in predominantly Democratic districts as a response to the 2016 elections poll results.

For example – in a recent speech at a rally – Donald Trump suggested that poll watchers – specifically Donald Trump-supporting poll watchers – were needed to watch certain areas of Philadelphia where he was sure voter fraud would be going on. These areas happen to be predominantly black and Democratic leaning, so Donald Trump’s call to his supporters is clearly an attempt at voter intimidation.

Fortunately for our democracy, the most recent election polls results make it clear that false claims of rigged elections and attempts at voter suppression in minority areas are probably not going to be sufficient to put Donald Trump in the White House. The only question is whether Trump supporters will finally accept the results of the election or resort to the violence they’ve been threatening.
