Have you ever had to do one of those projects in which you research your family tree? Did you find any famous celebrity or political figure in your family’s history?
There are a couple of famous celebrities that have surprising family ties today that will surprise you … if you don’t already know about them.
According to Today, Halle Berry has an interesting political connection within her family. Halle’s surprising genealogical connection is with former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
“You wanna know who I’m related to?” Berry informed “Extra’s” Jerry Penaoli in a recent video interview . “Sarah Palin!”
Berry did not go into details about how she is related to the republican politician, all she said was:
“In some twisted way…somebody sent me this information that she was my distant [relative].”
Halle Berry isn’t the only famous celebrity with an interesting political figure in their family history. Berry’s Cloud Atlas co-star Tom Hanks also has a political tie in his family’s past.
Hanks is a third cousin, four generations removed, of one of America’s most famous and respected presidents of all time: President Abraham Lincoln.
Hanks, 56, has known about his famous family tie since he was little and has now signed on to host an upcoming TV docu-drama Killing Lincoln.
“I’m related to Abraham Lincoln, and the members of my branch of the family are either cousins or in-laws or poor relations,” Hanks once said. “So when I was at school, guess which president I was always doing essays on.”
Hanks told “Extra” that Berry’s family tie to Palin was in line with the interlocking universes theme of their new film, which will open on Oct. 26.
“This is the ‘Cloud Atlas’ continuum without a doubt. I’m telling you, the connections that go through!” Hanks joked. “It doesn’t matter who, what race, where, what time.”
