Caitlin Stasey Nude Photos: ‘Neighbours’ Star Posts Topless Photos To Instagram In Protest Of Site’s ‘No Nudity’ Policy

Caitlin Stasey has shared a series of nude photos on Instagram in what the Neighbours star said is a protest against Instagram’s “no nudity” policy.

The 26-year-old actress has made waves with her series of topless shots, starting with one of herself reclining on a bed while semi-naked that the photo-sharing site deemed too racy and took down. But as the U.K.’s Sun noted, Caitlin Stasey was determined to share the nude photo with the world and decided to upload it again this week.

“The saucy snaps shows her wearing a skimpy white dressing gown which has fallen open to expose her breasts,” the report noted. “She previously posted the snap two weeks ago, but Instagram bosses removed it from the site. The sexy star, 26, has now risked the wrath of Instagram bosses by uploading the picture to her page once again.”

Caitlin Stasey has uploaded a series of other nude photos, including some with her bare backside exposed and others where she is topless. The Sun noted that Stasey’s racy photos are “part of her crusade to persuade the site to embrace images of the female form.

The shots gained plenty of media attention, with reports both in the U.K. and the United States picking on her viral protest.

Those close to the actress say the nude photos aren’t a bid for attention but instead a genuine protest against Instagram’s policies regarding nudity.

“She’s p***ed that Instagram keep deleting her shots,” a source close to Stasey had previously told the Sun. “It’s because they have nudity in them. Every time they do it, she puts up a new one to replace it.”

She is not the first celebrity to pick a fight with Instagram over its nudity policy. Back in 2014, Scout Willis posed a picture of two topless women as part of the #freethenipple campaign. The site took the picture down, but the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore responded by posting a picture of herself walking topless down a street in New York City.

As the Independent noted, a number of other celebrities joined in to protest the site’s censorship of nipples.

“Grace Coddington, US Vogue creative director and former model, was temporarily banned from Instagram last week after posting a topless line drawn cartoon of herself reclining in a chair.”

“Singer Rhianna, who had 1.3 million followers before shutting her Instagram account down, also tweeted her support for the campaign.”

But Instagram Kevin Systrom told BBC Newsbeat that the rules were in place for a reason — to keep the site a safe place for users of all ages.

“Our goal is really to make sure that Instagram, whether you’re a celebrity or not, is a safe place and that the content that gets posted is something that’s appropriate for teens and also for adults,” he explained. “We need to make certain rules to make sure that everyone can use it.”

Stasey first gained fame for her role on the show Neighbours from 2005 to 2009, playing Rachel Kinski, but she is also known for her advocacy for social issues. The actress is an outspoken champion for gender equality and feminism, and has even launched her own website called Herself.com that features naked images of Caitlin and women of different body types and backgrounds, the Sun noted.

“Feminism is as simple as a woman choosing for herself and being able to do what she believes in,” Stasey wrote on the site. “Feminism is nothing more than freedom.”

It appears that the actress has defeated Instagram — at least for the moment. As of early Thursday morning, Caitlin Stasey’s nude photos remained on her Instagram page and had not yet been taken down.
