Marvel’s Ant-Man, directed by Edgar Wright, is officially moving forward with production. Part of Marvel Studios’ “Phase Two,” the film has officially gotten a release date of November 6, 2015.

Ant-Man has been in the pipe for several years already, and the release date is the only real information we’ve gotten about it thus far. Edgar Wright is set to direct from a script that he co-wrote with Joe Cornish, and casting and plot details are currently unknown. Now you know everything that we know about Ant-Man.

Wright’s involvement with Ant-Man has been the subject of speculation ever since it was announced that the director is “interested” in working on it. There was a rumor at one time that he would direct the Iron Man 3 post-credits scene, which was meant to introduce the character of Ant-Man, though, if this is still happening, it’s likely to be a one-off tongue-in-cheek cameo rather than an earnest introduction. You’ll notice that the release date of November 6, 2015 puts Ant-Man after The Avengers II, which is set for release on May 1, 2015, which, according to nerdbastards, means that Ant-Man will actually be a part of Marvel’s “Phase Three,” long after they’ve run out of ideas.

Additionally, ScreenCrave notes that Edgar Wright’s commitment to Ant-Man has to make way for the director to finish The World’s End, his final chapter in the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost-driven “blood and ice cream” trilogy. After that, he’s attached to an adaptation of The Night Stalker with Johnny Depp in the pilot’s seat.

It is possible that the character of Ant-Man will be introduced in The Avengers II and spin-off into his own movie, an idea that has been floated for Marvel characters Hawkeye, the Black Widow, and a Mark Ruffalo version of The Hulk. Since Ant-Man is a fairly silly character and the Wright adaptation is rumored to be heavy on the camp, we find this unlikely. Still, it’s a possibility.
