Selena Gomez Is Miserable And May Quit Treatment? Drug Rumors Plague Singer

Selena Gomez is reportedly struggling with her decision to cancel her Revival World Tour and seek treatment for her mental health issues.

Although the singer hasn’t spoken out since announcing she would be taking some time off in August, new reports suggest the 24-year-old is “miserable” as she attempts to conquer issues of anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.

On October 24, In Touch Weekly magazine revealed that Selena Gomez was “desperate” to leave rehab after attending a treatment program for the past several weeks. A source also told the magazine that Selena Gomez’s friends and family were worried about her.

According to the report, Selena Gomez has admitted to her loved ones that she “feels like hell” at the Brookhaven treatment center and wants to exit the facility as soon as possible.

Since Selena Gomez revealed she would be taking time off with a statement to People Magazine, rumors have been swirling in regard to her potential drug and alcohol use. However, at the time that her statement was released, a source close to her shot down rumors of drug and alcohol dependency.

The break is “absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse” and was prompted after Selena Gomez “hadn’t felt like herself” over the past couple of months, the source explained.

“[Selena Gomez] decided to clear her calendar for the year in order to have this be her priority for future happiness and didn’t want to leave any promoters at bay,” said the source. “She feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future.”

In the months leading up to her stint in rehab, Selena Gomez went through a couple of hard moments, including a heated social media dispute with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, and the tragic death of her friend and fellow singer Christina Grimmie.

In June, Grimmie was murdered by a crazed fan in Orlando, Florida. Two months later, a source claimed Selena Gomez had “began spiraling” and was doing what she could to numb herself from the pain.

“[Selena Gomez] wasn’t the same after that,” an insider told Radar Online in August. “She was definitely depressed — it was obvious.”

In addition to the depression, claimed the insider, Selena Gomez was using a cocktail of drugs, including “Lunesta, Ambien, Klonopin, and Xanax,” but not all at once, “and more ‘recreational’ than any one thing specifically.”

The insider went on to reveal that Selena Gomez had checked into an Arizona facility in January 2014 to address the alleged abuse of Xanax, Ambien, marijuana, and other drugs. Gomez, on the other hand, claimed she was treating symptoms of Lupus at the time.

As for Selena Gomez’s latest stint in rehab, a Radar Online source in September said the singer “is full of s**t” for her statement that her time off is related to her Lupus diagnosis.

“It is terrible that [Selena Gomez] has Lupus, but she is using this as an excuse for everything lately and the truth is that she is just a mess right now,” explained the source. “She has been feeling completely alone lately… Everyone close to her is worried because she seems to be back to old behavior.”

Selena Gomez has been seen publicly a number of times since checking herself into rehab weeks ago, but so far, she has not directly addressed rumors of drug use.
