‘NCIS’ Season 14 Spoilers: Will Anthony DiNozzo Return To The Team?

NCIS Season 14 is already on its sixth episode and it still seems like Gibbs hasn’t found the perfect replacement for Tony DiNozzo who left the service to be a daddy.

In the Season 6 finale of NCIS, Tony, played by Michael Weatherly, bid farewell to his comrades individually after finding out one compelling reason for him to get out of the line of fire—Tali, his and Ziva’s daughter.

In real life, Weatherly actually took a permanent leave from CBS’s hit TV series to star in his own show called Bull which cannot possibly compare to the break he had with NCIS.

Now, rumors surfaced that DiNozzo may actually be returning to NCIS which could be quite plausible considering that the show hasn’t had much luck in filling in his seat in the big orange room even after casting Jennifer Esposito as Agent Alex Quinn and Wilmer Valderrama as Agent Nick Torres, the two new agents added to Gibbs’ team.

NCIS Season 14 Without DiNozzo

As far as initial TV ratings are concerned, NCIS is doing well even without Tony DiNozzo’s comedic flavor added to the mix of an otherwise too-serious Team Gibbs.

In fact, Inside Pulse reported that CBS was the big winner on September 20 after NCIS pulled through a total of 15.63 million viewers during its 8 p.m. Tuesday airing.

However, many fans still miss Michael Weatherly’s Tony DiNozzo on the show even though the showrunners managed to add three characters to fill up the space he left.

Some are even using Weatherly’s new show Bull as a sort of therapy for suddenly getting offed from their addiction to their favorite NCIS Very Special Agent.

Another even wished that NCIS showrunners should build an entire show or spinoff starring Weatherly as Anthony DiNozzo.

If that does not prove how much people miss this movie-loving comedic hunk of a character, I don’t know what will.

DiNozzo Returns To NCIS

While it may be quite a stretch, to say the least, NCIS showrunners are planning to take advantage of this during Episode 7 of Season 14.

According to rumors, DiNozzo will be returning to the show during next week’s episode of NCIS titled “Home of the Brave.” Unfortunately, it is not the DiNozzo many are expecting.

Apparently, news about the return of Robert Wagner who plays Anthony DiNozzo Sr. is twisted into something many are craving for, which is the return of his on-screen son, Tony DiNozzo Jr.

With the two sharing the same name, media outlets were quick at bending the news into something that might interest people.

Here’s the truth: Wagner’s DiNozzo Senior will reprise his role in the show in Episode 7 where Abby (Pauley Perrette), Bishop (Emily Wickersham), and McGee (Sean Murray) attempt to woo him in hopes of subletting his son’s apartment.

Episode 7 is also expected to shed Torres with a more DiNozzo-like light as he decides to break protocol after learning about a wanted case involving one of NCIS’s witnesses.

Because of this, fans seem to be warming up to the idea that the former That 70s Show actor is now a badass special agent who is not afraid of anything, not even Gibbs.
