Taylor Swift’s Ex-Boyfriend Calvin Harris Reacts To Her ‘This Is What You Came For’ Performance [Report]

Taylor Swift performed “This is What You Came For” over the weekend and according to a new report, her ex-boyfriend, Calvin Harris, has reacted to the news.

On October 22, Taylor Swift took the stage for the first time this year at a Grand Prix event and sang the hit song, which was recorded by her ex-boyfriend, DJ Calvin Harris, and singer Rihanna several months ago. Luckily, despite Taylor Swift’s split from Harris earlier this year, there is no “bad blood” between them and Harris actually “loved” the performance.

“[Calvin Harris] has seen [Taylor Swift]’s performance of [“This is What You Came For”] and absolutely loved it,” a source told Hollywood Life on October 23. “Regardless of his feelings for her, it is a great song that he is going to play for his own concerts the rest of his life.”

“Calvin can’t ever get away from it and by seeing her performance he thought [Taylor Swift] knocked it out of the park,” the source added.

During the Grand Prix event, a reported 80,000 fans lined up to watch Taylor Swift perform on COTA’s Super Stage lawn in Austin, Texas. On stage, Taylor Swift sat at a piano as she stunned in a jewel covered black romper and her signature red lipstick. In addition to performing the song she co-wrote with Calvin Harris, Taylor Swift sang a number of her own hits, including “Love Story,” “Fifteen” and “22.”

While Taylor Swift initially wrote “This is What You Came Here” under an alias, it was ultimately confirmed that she had written the song along with Harris during the time they were dating. According to a report by TMZ in June, Taylor Swift felt disrespected when the song was released, and because of the professional tension between them, their relationship ended shortly after that.

As the outlet revealed, Taylor Swift did a demo of the song on her piano and sent it to Harris, who loved it. Then, the couple recorded the song with vocals by Swift and a beat by Harris. However, because they didn’t want to overshadow the song with their collaboration as a couple, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris both agreed to keep Swift’s role on the song a secret.

At the time Harris released the song with Rihanna on April 29, 2016, he and Swift agreed to list her on the track using the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg. He even denied having any plans to work with Swift on the day of the release. While chatting with Ryan Seacrest about the possibility of a collaboration with Swift, Harris responded, “You know we haven’t even spoken about it. I can’t see it happening though.”

While Taylor Swift didn’t intend on releasing the track under her name, she reportedly felt hurt by Harris’ interview and felt he had taken things too far. From there, Taylor Swift’s relationship with Harris was headed towards splitsville.

As TMZ explained, Taylor Swift has the right to prohibit Harris from performing the song, but thus far, she hasn’t done so and according to the report, doesn’t plan to exercise that right.

Following TMZ‘s report, Harris confirmed Taylor Swift also sang backup on “This Is What You Came For.”

“Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual,” he tweeted, via Us Weekly, adding that he “wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals… Initially [Taylor Swift] wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.”
