‘Counting On’ Season 2 Spoilers: Jinger Duggar’s Engagement, Jessa Seewald’s Pregnancy ‘Orchestrated’ For Ratings? Duggar Family Compared To Kardashians

Amid the scandals, many still consider the Duggar family as a positive role model for Christian families. A new report, however, accused the family of exploiting themselves to keep Counting On on-air, even comparing the TLC reality series to E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, the Duggar family has “more in common with the Kardashians than they care to admit.” While the Duggars would often talk about their religious beliefs, stressing the importance of having close family ties and saving oneself for marriage, the site pointed out that the Duggar’s number one priority, at the end of the day, is keeping their family business.

Even if Counting On paled in comparison to 19 Kids and Counting, the new series reportedly experienced an increase in ratings when the show focused on Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s relationship. Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald’s announcement that they are expecting a second child also allegedly helped boost the show’s ratings. Given that the timing could not be any more perfect, The Hollywood Gossip cannot help but speculate that the timing of Jinger’s engagement or Jessa’s pregnancy could have been “orchestrated” to give Counting On a much-needed boost.

With the renewal of Counting On Season 3 still up in the air, the outlet held that the Duggars may have done something to tip the odds in their favor. They pointed out that the engagement and pregnancy angle have been “drawn out” over the course of the season. Even though fans of the Duggar family may already know about Jinger’s engagement, the producers decided to drag the storyline for as long as they could possibly could. Same goes with Jessa’s pregnancy reveal. The outlet pointed out that Jessa even went as far as posting old photos of herself on social media, so that fans would not notice her absence.

In the last episode of Counting On Season 2, Jessa Duggar revealed that she and Ben wanted a big family. While she doesn’t see herself having 19 kids in the future, Jessa hinted that it might just happen someday. Apart from Spurgeon, and baby number two, Jessa shared that they also consider adopting.

“Ben and I want a large family. We also really want to adopt, so we might end up with 19 kids. But I won’t be giving birth to 19 kids, I mean I don’t foresee that. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll surprise myself,” she told the cameras.

Anna Duggar also joked that it would only be a matter of time before they all start to lose track of all the names of the new members of the Duggar clan.

“With Jess and Ben expecting, and Jill and Derek probably going to be expecting soon, and then Jinger and Jeremy getting married, it wont be long before we’ll be like, ‘Wait a minute, I know you’re my nephew but what’s your name?'” Anna said.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Us Weekly, Jinger Duggar shared that she and Jeremy have also started talking about kids ahead of the wedding. While there is still a lot of wedding planning ahead, finding the right wedding dress and the proper venue, sorting out the guest list and prepping herself to move out of the Duggar household, Jinger shared that she is excited to start a family with the former pro soccer player.

“I’m excited for the future, when Jeremy and I are married, to start a family. We haven’t talked about size, but I know we both love children. They’re a joy. We’ll have to see what the Lord provides,” she shared.
