The Rolling Stones will be playing at least four gigs as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.

According to Reuters, the band will play two shows in New Jersey and two in London later this year. The band is also releasing a new compilation entitled Grrr! that features the band’s first single, “Doom And Gloom,” in seven years. (Listen to the new song here.)

Guitarist Keith Richards said in a statement:

“Sorry to keep you all hanging around but the waiting is over … I’ve always said the best place for rock and roll is on the stage and the same is true for the Stones. I’m here with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie and everything is rocking. See you very soon!”

The Rolling stones will play at the O2 Arena on November 25 and 29. The group will then travel to New Jersey for two shows at the Prudential Center on December 13 and 15.

Only four shows have been announced so far, but Mick Jagger hinted that this could be the start of a new tour.

Jagger told the BBC:

“It’s not going to be a long tour, the first bit.”

The Rolling Stones last major tour lasted two years and ended in August 2007. The tour, A Bigger Bang, brought in over $550 million and was the second highest grossing tour in history.
