Though their divorce has been finalized, Tom Cruise is still missing actress Katie Holmes and the couple’s daughter, Suri. Reports have surfaced yet again saying that Cruise is considering leaving Scientology with the hope that he’ll be able to reconcile with Holmes once his connection to the controversial religion is severed.
Rumors continue to surface that Cruise, an avowed Scientologist, is thinking of leaving the religion behind in a bid to get Katie Holmes back. Though Cruise, originally a Catholic, has been a Scientologist for over two decades, he has been distancing himself from the religion lately.
“Tom hasn’t admitted that he’s definitely leaving Scientology for good but he’s distanced himself from those in the church and has been hanging out with good friends who aren’t part of the religion,” a source reportedly told Star Magazine (via Christian Post).
“Tom’s been leaning on friends who have different perspectives, getting advice on moving on from Katie as well as on everything he’s been going through with Scientology,” the alleged insider went on. “He’s finally seeing that being such an advocate for Scientology hasn’t served him as well as he’d hoped- he’s gone through three divorces, and his public perception has sunk to an all-time low.”
But is the 50-year-old actor just distancing himself from a religion that failed to help him save not one but two marriages? Or does he genuinely want Katie Holmes back?
“He has lost Nicole and now his wife and daughter. He has always used the Scientology techniques but he has now realized they don’t work in marriage,” said a source, via Daily Mail. “If Tom truly leaves [Scientology], Katie would reconsider. She was in love with Tom, he was her childhood crush, it took a lot of strength to break free. But now she has peace of mind but no love.”

"He has recently been distancing himself from the religion lately?" "He has lost Nicole and now his wife and daughter?" Who writes this drivel? Do "recently" and "lately" not mean the same thing? Was Nicole not his wife also? Do I think Tom and Katy could get back together? Of course they COULD but why is that anyone's business but theirs? They COULD turn into winged pink pigs and fly away into the sunset but it's not likely.

It's very difficult and takes a lot of will-power to break off from someone you loved and had a child with. But judging from Tom Cruise's track record of divorces, I don't think he can blame his religion on the personality he's acquired– that being the need to control someone. As a woman, I want to exercise my right to use my own mind and abilities. If Katy can distance herself from Tom (as hard as it may seem), she will do better in the long run and ultimately return to the person she was meant to be, not just a puppet on a string.

The story I heard was that tom has a dispute with Scientology leader, David, over his denouncing his daughter, Suri. Apparently, scientology members are suppose to cut off all contact with fallen away members. Personally, I think Tom needs to cut his ties with those mind controlling power mongers and get his career into a more positive light. You couldn't pay me to walk across the street to see a Tom Cruise movie. But, if he broke way and showed he had a spine, I might change my mind, not that he cares.
