‘One Piece’ Manga Chapter 843: Sanji Insults Luffy And Nami For Crashing Vinsmoke’s Pre-Wedding Parade [Spoilers]

In the One Piece manga chapter 843, mangaka Eiichiro Oda, finally moves the story ahead. Not only does the chapter confirm the culmination of the long-winding battle between Luffy D. Monkey and Commander Cracker, it also indicates some pretty big twists that just might end the friendship between the Straw Hats captain and the world famous chef.

In chapter 843, a humongous Luffy has finally managed to defeat Commander Cracker and his endless army of biscuit soldiers. With help from Nami and her weather-altering spell, Luffy kept devouring the soldiers that Cracker kept generating. However, even the seemingly invincible and infinitely flexible Luffy has his limitations. Right when it seems Luffy can’t eat any more soldiers, he activates a new form of Gear Fourth technique called Tankman: Full Version (Gomu Gomu no Cannonball) and sends Cracker flying from the edge of the Seducing Woods.

Luffy’s Gear Four flings a heavily wounded and humiliated Cracker right into Big Mom’s Whole Cake chateau. This causes the residents of the Whole Cake Island to panic since Cracker is one of the most powerful commanders under Big Mom. In fact, he is one of the three toughest henchmen Charlotte Linilin relies on. As the town welcomes Lord Katakuri and Lord Smoothie, Big Mom is waiting for Commander Cracker when the latter crashes in the courtyard.

Big Mom’s confidence in Cracker is indicated from the fact that she sent him to restrict Luffy, Nami, and other members of the Straw Hats gang to the Seducing Woods and prevent their unceremonious entry into the wedding venue of Sanji and her daughter Pudding. Big Mom is acutely aware that Luffy will try his best to disrupt the wedding and attempt to rescue Sanji.

Commander Cracker’s crash causes Big Mom to raise an alarm, seal the island, and order everyone to stay indoors. As an added precaution she issues a “Red Alert” because “Lord Cracker was manhandled by someone.” Many in Big Mom’s courtyard are confident that someone is the Straw Hats captain, and Cracker’s sudden entry indicates he is close by.

Meanwhile, Nami scolds Big Mom’s ex-husband, Pound, for blurting out everything that’s on his mind and not exercising restraint. Pound, who has been helping Luffy so that he can see his daughters, apologizes for his lack of faith in the Straw Hats team. However, instead of hearing Pound’s apologizes, Nami is excited about defeating one of the most powerful and feared commanders of Big Mom.

A grotesquely swollen Luffy is slowly shrinking since Gear Four greatly increases his metabolism. Interestingly, the fearsome tree known as King Baum is seen standing nearby, unable to move. He seems afraid because he “helped these ruffians defeat Lord Cracker.” However, his inability to exercise free will stems from Big Mom’s Vivre card that Nami is holding. It is quite clear that Nami is slowly realizing the awesome power the wielder of the card commands over the mystical creatures. A dejected King Baum is concerned about how Nami possesses the card, as Big Mom’s own children aren’t allowed access to it. Essentially, Pound and King Baum are worried about their fates since they have essentially joined forces with her enemies.

Pound explains that Big Mom possesses the ability to summon the devastating powers of weather. Apparently, she can “manipulate weather” and conjure a raging storm with hurricane-force winds because in her right hand she controls the power to summon “Prometheus, the sun” and in her left hand, “Zeus, the thunder cloud.” Pound adds that Bing Mom’s temper must not be tested as once she crosses “that line, there’s nothing anybody can do.”

A still-bloated Luffy scoffs and jokes that his temper tantrums are far worse. But he is increasingly angry at Sanji for abandoning them at the edge of the Seducing Woods to meet a mystery female. Moreover, he is furious at thinking Sanji might be forced to be part of Big Mom’s crew after the wedding takes place. Although the group doesn’t know when the wedding is, Nami says she heard the Vinsmokes were slowly proceeding towards Big Mom’s castle.

Luffy commands King Baum to carry him and Nami to the castle. Because of his helplessness in the presence of the Vivre card, the tree agrees. The group then races towards the castle, but instead come across a huge procession led by a large “Cat-rriage.” While Luffy steadily returns to his original shape, Nami uses the time to communicate with Chopper and Carrot. Since the duo is trapped inside Brulee’s Mirror World, Nami is able to communicate with them using a broken shard of mirror, reported GameNGuide. However, before Nami is able to converse further, the mirror she is holding turns ordinary and shatters.

As King Baum rushes towards the Vinsmoke’s procession, Luffy spots Sanji and calls out to him in excitement and with utter disregard for his own safety and threat from Germa 66 soldiers. While Sanji’s brothers Ichiji, Yonji, and Niji are surprised at Luffy’s incredible speed, Sanji is merely shocked to see his friend. Interestingly, two of Sanji’s elder brothers instantly become infatuated with Nami.

Instead of greeting his friends, Sanji rudely questions their presence, while a mildly surprised Judge Vinsmoke merely reconfirms Luffy’s identity. Sitting beside the Judge, Reiju watches Luffy with excitement in her eyes. Although Luffy explains his tardiness, Sanji rebukes him and, to Nami’s horror, kicks Luffy from the carriage.

Much to the amazement of everyone, Sanji insults Luffy and Nami and orders them to leave. As Luffy sits bewildered on the ground, Sanji identifies himself as a prince of the Vinsmoke clan and the Germa kingdom. Sanji continues to hurl abuses and claims his current position accords him “wealth, soldiers, and servants.” As if the verbal lashing isn’t enough, Sanji offers Luffy and Nami two choices: return to their ships and carry on with their lowlife activities or bask in the eternal glory of Big Mom while he enjoys the pleasures of life with her daughter.

Sanji continues to belittle Luffy and Nami’s efforts to rescue him, and even mentions that they wasted their time coming to Whole Cake Island. It is likely that Luffy doesn’t believe a single word Sanji is saying. Little does he know that Big Mom has placed magical bracelets on Sanji’s hands. It is likely the bracelets might destroy his hands if Sanji attempts to divulge the truth behind his hollow and untrue threats. As an added measure, Judge Vinsmoke threatens Sanji that he will attack his friends and kill Zeff if he does not marry Lady Pudding.

Will Luffy understand what is causing Sanji’s hatred towards the Straw Hats gang? Will the Straw Hats captain manage to see through the veil of deception and rescue his friend? Hopefully, chapter 844 will answer these questions.
