Lake Wales Man Arrested After Allegedly Beating, Choking Ex-Girlfriend And Trying To Glue Her Mouth Shut

A 33-year-old man, Christopher Jackson Smith, in Lake Wales, Florida, is being accused of beating and choking ex-girlfriend, and trying to glue her mouth shut, according to ABC Action News.

Investigators say that on the night of Wednesday, October 19, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. Smith and his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend, who has not been named, became involved in a verbal altercation at their home.

The argument turned violent when Smith reportedly began to choke the “woman until she passed out, knocked out one of her teeth during the incident, tried to glue her mouth shut to stop her from yelling for help.”

Smith later placed a knife on his victim’s back and forced her into a truck, along with a child – whose age and name has not been released – and “drove to Old Forty Road, punching and elbowing the victim in the face along the way” during which time the victim was able to write a post on Facebook asking for help.

Family and friends immediately became concerned for the woman, asking “what’s wrong” and “are you okay.”

“Where’s Jada? Please contact me. You know where I stand. I missed her birthday and was taking her out to eat this weekend and give her, her birthday presents. You can go with us too,” Another Facebook user, Mark Oliver, wrote.

Afterward, the woman stabbed Smith in the neck after finding a pocket knife on the floorboard of the truck.

However, the woman was in luck when Juan Mojica, who lives near the area, stated that he heard the dispute and “saw the truck near his home and went to investigate the suspicious vehicle.”

He went on to say that he “put the lights on and I’m asking the guy, ‘What are they doing? This is private property?’ And he said ‘Well we’re lost’ and the passenger, the woman, when he said ‘we’re lost’ she said ‘no, please help.'”

Before he could utter another word, the driver of the truck drove off but he was able to capture the vehicle’s tag number and afterward alerted police.

Not long after, Lake Wales police officials caught up to the truck several blocks away from Old Forty Road where he originally drove his victim to.

Lake Wales police officials arrested Smith on charges of “attempted murder in the second degree, kidnapping inflicting bodily harm, domestic violence battery by strangulation, domestic violence committing aggravated battery, and negligent child abuse without bodily harm.”

However, he was first transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries he sustained after his victim stabbed him in the neck.

The woman was also transported to an area hospital, where she was treated and later released.

Although it was a dangerous situation, Mojica was glad he was able to help get the woman to safety.

“You know, maybe if I don’t come, something could have happened,” he said.

Smith’s action sparked social media outrage where several individuals called the man a “monster.”

“Thank God she is alive! Things could have ended up a lot worse had she not called for help. Poor child who had to see this happening. What a sick person. Hopefully, he never gets out of jail,” Mari Na wrote in a Facebook post.

“What do men get off abuse? Sure isn’t love, that’s for sure. It’s more a power point with them. Ladies, we don’t want men like this man, he will murder you,” another social media user, Mary Wheeler, said.

When the suspect was taken into custody, the victim posted a Facebook message, informing friends and relatives that she was okay.

“I’m okay, everybody. Thank you all for your prayers. Jade is okay. She is doing good, considering everything.”
