Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly And Megyn Kelly Dish On Donald Trump All Week

Both Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly had an excellent ratings week. When averaging ratings at Showbuzz Daily, Bill O’Reilly scored an average of 3.65 million viewers on The O’Reilly Factor, and Megyn Kelly averaged 3.45 million on The Kelly File. Wednesday’s presidential debate with Fox News’ Chris Wallace certainly helped both of them.

On his show Monday evening, Bill O’Reilly said that Trump can still beat Clinton. He started off The O’Reilly Factor that evening giving his analysis of the state of the presidential campaign. He noted that Trump was down in most of the polls, but certainly not out.

“With three weeks remaining, that gap can be closed and there are a few things that Trump must do. He must put aside the feuding. It gets him nowhere with voters to take on people like Rep. Paul Ryan,” O’Reilly said, adding that while Trump must defend himself against charges he believes are slanderous, he needs to quickly dispatch those charges.

O’Reilly said that Trump needed to concentrate on three themes — a stagnant economy, illegal immigration, and chaos overseas. He said the Wikileaks stuff will give Trump plenty of ammo for Wednesday night’s debate.

“As for Hillary Clinton, she’s off the campaign trail this week, resting up for the debate. That’s smart — she’s ahead, but she can’t sit on her lead if Donald Trump wins the debate,” O’Reilly said about Trump’s biggest target, adding that her best strategy in the Las Vegas debate is to talk directly to the voters and try and convince them that she is not corrupt.

According to most, Donald Trump didn’t exactly screw up at the debate, but he also didn’t give a strong enough performance to change people’s minds.

Julian Zelizer from CNN was particularly disturbed at one key moment in the debate.

“The most troubling part of the debate for many observers came when Donald Trump would not say that he will accept the results of the election. ‘I’ll tell you at the time—I’ll keep you in suspense, OK?’ he said, words that will provoke great concern among those who feel he is raising dangerous questions about the legitimacy of this election and the results.”

Megyn Kelly talked about this on her show Wednesday night. She seemed to think it was a big deal because Donald Trump indicated he didn’t trust the system. Jason Miller, who is the Trump campaign’s senior advisor, seemed to disagree.

“Let me tell you exactly what Mr. Trump was doing tonight. He was putting those on alert who might be looking to commit voter fraud. He’s putting them on notice that we’re going to be watching. We’re going to make sure that we have honest and fair elections. That’s what he’s doing.”

Kelly kept pressing him on the issue, and he added that one wants to make sure the people know they’re going to be watching exactly what’s happening. He said that people need to know that the election is certified and that the Trump campaign will address it after that.

“This is easily Mr. Trump’s best performance. He really took Hillary to task on her failed three-year record. She had no answers for her role on destroying the Middle East. She had no answers on the Clinton Foundation,” Miller continued, adding that Hillary had no answers for her campaign’s role in inciting violence at Trump events.
