‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Episode 7 Spoilers: Dead Is Not Dead [Video]

American Horror Story Season 6 rebooted last Wednesday and showed fans that there is life outside of the show. The basic premise of the reboot is to maintain a running theme for the season, which is for everything to play out as “found footage” episodes. That will also be the case on Episode 7.

The first thing that American Horror Story fans need to realize is that Roanoke featured many of its players in fictional roles that came across as actors. Evan Peters has made two different appearances on the show, one of which was when his fictional character was playing Edward Mott, the fictional legend that exists within the Roanoke installment.

Just like the first Season 6 episode of American Horror Story that he debuted in, according to TV Guide, Evan Peters’ character (this time Rory Monahan) was killed once again. This time, though, it seems as though he has been killed in the fictional “real life” scenario, which leaves Sarah Paulson’s Audrey Tindall character a widow, of sorts.

Let’s be honest here: if you are a true fan of American Horror Story, then dead never really means dead. In one way or another Evan Peters has been brought back to life more times on the horror anthology series than any other character.

Knowing what we know about American Horror Story: Roanoke, assuming the fictional documentary proves to have been true to the details, anyone who dies on that property is cursed to stay on the land as a spirit. At least, that is what Evan Peters’ other character, Edward Mott, told the audience.

It is hard to distinguish at this point how much of the fictional My Roanoke Nightmare on American Horror Story actually stuck to the facts about the “real” Shelby and Matt ordeal at the North Carolina home. But it seems logical to assume that Evan Peters is once again going to be a ghost at the Roanoke home, just as a different character than he previously portrayed.

But now that we have seen the transformation with Agnes (Kathy Bates as the “real” character), who portrayed the Butcher, this also seems to be giving way to some sort of possession story on American Horror Story Season 6. What we don’t know yet, or at least it hasn’t been shown on Season 6 of American Horror Story, is whether or not Agnes has a history of mental health issues. Possibly an instability factor? But judging by the quick scene we got of her auditioning for the role of the Butcher, it is safe to assume that she was not previously afflicted with such an illness.

Agnes has been seen on American Horror Story lashing out after being told that she would not be on the second season of the show, which is titled Return To Roanoke: Three Days In Hell. There is also an amateur video of her behaving badly in public, as the Butcher. So if we are able to rule out mental health issues, then the only answer to that question would be that she is possessed by the spirit of the Butcher, thus possibly making her the living iteration of the Butcher on-screen as well.

Here is where American Horror Story could deceive us, though. The footage of Cheyenne Jackson interviewing Agnes just before he served her with a restraining order to stay off the set could have been the hoax or the big twist that might be revealed at the end of the show. It could have been his objective all along to feature that footage on the show to, in some way, make viewers believe that Agnes is either mentally ill or possessed, which could also make a reality show much more interesting. We already know that he was willing to stage props in the house with controlled explosions.

American Horror Story: Roanoke Episode 7 returns Wednesday on FX.
