‘Sleeping Dogs’ DLC Brings Supernatural Shenanigans To North Point This Halloween

Sleeping Dogs, Square Enix’s surprisingly solid open-world crime title, will receive some spooky new DLC on October 30. The package, which bears the title “Nightmare in North Point,” will reportedly introduce a new game mode similar to Red Dead Redemption’s “Undead Nightmare DLC. In other words, you can expect all sorts of supernatural shenanigans to take over the streets of North Point this Halloween.

According to Kotaku, the Sleeping Dogs DLC was announced at the New York Comic Con over the weekend. Although previously-released downloadable content gave players more to do in the game’s Hong Kong-inspired landscape, “Nightmare in North Point” is the first DLC to give Wei Shen something different to do with his free time.

“With the DLC, we feel we can explore other aspects of Hong Kong cinema,” a representative from developer United Front explained in a statement.

What areas of Hong Kong cinema is the company looking to explore? According to Cinema Blend, the upcoming Sleeping Dogs DLC will give players an opportunity to square off against Jiang Shi, otherwise known as Chinese vampires. Fans of Hong Kong cinema are certainly no strangers to the world of hopping vampires, so it will be interesting to see how United Front handles these characters in the game.

Regarding the story, Polygon reports that “Nightmare in North Point” will follow hero Wei Shen as he attempts to rid the city of a gang-related undead menace. In order to save the citizens from certain doom, our hero must embark on a mission to wipe the zombie threat from the streets. To aid Shen in his quest, a number of new weapons and abilities will be at his disposal.

If you’re not a fan of slaying zombies once again, then you might be more interested in the SWAT team and street racing missions that Square Enix is preparing to unleash later this month.
