‘Hawaii Five-0’ Season 7: Alex O’Loughlin Is Leaving — How Will Danny Williams Do Without Steve McGarrett?

Hawaii Five-0, a police action series on CBS, is currently airing Season 7. Anyone who watches the show would agree that the partnership between Danny Williams and Steve McGarrett is a large part of what makes the show so enjoyable. Movie News Guide reports Hawaii Five-0 fans are going to have to say goodbye to this beloved partnership as Alex O’Loughlin (who plays Steve McGarrett) will be leaving the show.

If you are wondering when you will have to say goodbye to the partnership of Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett and Danny Williams, you will be happy to know you can rest easy through Season 7 and Season 8. Parent Herald reveals Alex O’Loughlin did sign a contract to stick with the show until Season 8. Apparently, the actor needs time to recover from and injury and wants to “fix his body” and isn’t going to be able to do that while being a star of Hawaii Five-0.

What does this mean for Hawaii Five-0?

Well, it means some pretty significant changes are going to be made to the storyline of the series as Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett and Danny Williams have been partners since the show first aired. Most fans of the police series would agree the partnership Danny and Steve share is a large part of what makes the show what it is.

Unfortunately, fans of the show are going to have to wait until Season 9 (assuming the series gets renewed for Season 9) to see if the role of Steve will be recast to another actor or if they will just give Danny Williams a new partner and continue to move the show forward.

Naturally, this also makes fans wonder how exactly Danny’s partner is going to be written out of the show. Will the series take a safe approach and write him out of the show in a way that allows the actor to come back at a later time or could the series take a more dramatic approach and kill Danny’s partner off sometime during Season 8?

At this time, fans of Hawaii Five-0 have no choice but to wait and continue watching to see what happens to Danny Williams regarding whether he ends up with a new partner or if someone new will just take on the role of Steve. There is also the possibility of one of the other actors on the show stepping up to take the role of Danny’s partner.

For fans who have been missing Kono and Adam, prepare yourselves as Adam is released from jail during Season 7 (during Episode 5 to be exact). This means Kono and Adam will have a chance to rekindle their relationship and explore what kind of future they may have together before Season 7 comes to a close.

TVLine reports fans of the show can also expect a new addition to the cast during Season 7. In an upcoming episode, Missy Peregrym from Rookie Blue will be a guest star. She has been cast for the role of Bridget who is a sister of Danny Williams. You will get to meet Bridget in Season 7, Episode 10.

The backstory behind the sister of Danny Williams is that she lives in New Jersey with her husband and her children. Danny’s sister comes to Hawaii by herself as part of a corporation retreat. Danny Williams has never seen his sister while she was in a corporate setting, so this ends up being a side of his sister he has never seen before. The situation between this new side of his sister makes for some funny situations and new revelations on Danny’s part.

As fans may remember, Danny has two sisters, Bridget and Stella. He also has a brother named Matt who was killed earlier in the show.
