President Obama and his advisers on Sunday said he was planning to deliver a more assertive debate when he meets for the second round of talks with Governor Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney was seen as the winner of the duos first Presidential debates when they met on October 3 in Denver. Analysts at the time mostly agreed that President Obama was too docile. Experts had expected Obama to go after Mitt Romney’s “47%” comments and other attacks the former Governor has made against middle and lower class Americans.

Polling numbers following the first debate clearly showed Obama’s lead being wiped out by Romney’s victory.

The two men will debate once again Tuesday night at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. The men will then meet once again on October 22 in Florida where the final debate of the Presidential campaign will take place.

Speaking of his practice sessions Obama says:

“It is going great.”

Of course the “it’s going great” comment was the same sentiment Obama made during his practice session camp in the state of Nevada.

According to campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki:

“The president is his own harshest critic and he knows Mitt Romney had a better night at the first debate.”

Psaki adds:

“The American people should expect to see a much more energized President Obama making a passionate case for why he is a better choice for the middle class.”

Speaking to Fox News Sunday Obama’s chief campaign strategist David Axelrod promised a more aggressive debate, noting:

“But the other thing he’s going to certainly do – I mean, we saw Governor Romney sort of serially walk away from his own proposals – certainly the president is going to be willing to challenge him on it as we saw the vice president challenge Paul Ryan.”
