Try This At Home: Hilarious Galaxy Note 7 Halloween Costume Idea

Angry that you had to go through all the hassle because of your exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7? Try this DIY Galaxy Note 7 Halloween costume idea that will knock everyone’s socks off.

Samsung has been really hit hard with the recall of its Galaxy Note 7 units, which have been reported to cause fire and explosions. We can only imagine how hard it’s going for their PR team since the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has been deemed so hazardous that carrying it on board a plane is now a federal offense, Tech Crunch reports.

Apart from the regulations now imposed by several airlines regarding carrying a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, a couple of hilarious (well they’re hilarious for us, but it seems not everyone appreciates the joke) low blows have been delivered to Samsung by one, a modding group for famous game Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V); and two, President Barack Obama himself.

Well, the YouTube video of the exploding Galaxy Note 7 on GTA Vhas been reinstated for now (despite Samsung’s forceful request to keep it banned) and President Obama has more pressing matters to attend to. So to keep the fire of the Galaxy Note 7 joke burning (again, pun intended), here’s an ingenious Halloween costume suggestion that you can try to replicate at home.

The Guardian drags into the spotlight this Halloween costume idea by Imgur user excit3d, who seems to be going to a Halloween costume party dressed up in a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 pun.

On face value, excit3d is dressed up in a casual shirt with six boxes of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 taped to the shirt (don’t ask us where he got six boxes of those dangerous bad boys but he did). What’s the catch? He blows on a pipe and smoke will come out of the boxes of Galaxy Note 7. He calls his costume the “Fire Hazard.”

A generous gesture for him, he provides a step-by-step on how to replicate his Galaxy Note 7 Halloween costume.

This Halloween I’m going as a fire hazard (OC) (plus instructions on how to make your own!)

To pull off the smoke, excit3d is attaching tubes to the boxes, which will send the smoke from the main tube down to the boxes. His first prototype was that the plastic tubes will be visible alongside the boxes. He then improvised and added another shirt into the equation, this time connecting the boxes with T connectors and plastic tubes. The second prototype, which ended up being the finished product, is actually even better than the first one since the tubes will be hidden from plain sight via the second shirt so the smoking Galaxy Note 7 boxes look even more legit.

To match with his walking Galaxy Note 7 Fire Hazard Halloween costume, he adds the following.

“The finished costume will add caution tape and my fiancée is dressing as a firefighter and she will be following me around with a fire extinguisher.”

The comments on his Galaxy Note 7 Halloween costume idea did vary from supportive and amused to extremely alarmed and offended. Instead of focusing on the pun that his Galaxy Note 7 Halloween costume was able to pull off, some people were alarmed it might catch police attention or that it might come off as a terrorist joke.

At the end of his tutorial, excit3d posted a disclaimer.

“Just a disclaimer, as many people are seeing this and thinking its a terrorist thing or supposed to be a suicide vest. The Galaxy Note 7 sizzles and catches on fire, which is really shitty but it doesn’t “explode” like everyone in the media is saying. So though it may LOOSELY resemble a suicide vest, that was not my intent. I’m making fun of Samsung, not ISIS.”

So if you’re going to get dressed up as this walking Galaxy Note 7 Fire Hazard Halloween costume, please try to avoid blowing smoke when the words “Samsung Galaxy Note 7” are not clearly visible to those seeing the smoke.
