Gavin Rossdale Praises Gwen Stefani Ahead Of His New Gig On ‘The Voice UK’

Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani are divorced, but now they’re both members of The Voice family. However, the exes are not going to reunite on television — Gwen is returning to the American version of the singing competition while Gavin will be appearing on ITV’s The Voice UK.

Gavin Rossdale recently talked to the Sun about his new gig coaching singers on The Voice UK, and he daringly dropped Gwen Stefani’s name. The Bush frontman had been keeping a low profile in the wake of their divorce, likely because he didn’t want to respond to rumors about his three-year affair with one of their children’s nannies. However, now that he’s about to start filming a reality show, he can’t keep dodging questions about Stefani. Instead of apologizing for his actions, Rossdale has seemingly decided that the best way to begin reforming his tarnished image is to lavish his ex with praise.

“She’s so incredible at it. I’ve watched her,” Rossdale said of Stefani’s work on The Voice. “She’s really, really brilliant at that show. She’s so natural at it. I hope that I’m just half as good as her.”

Gavin Rossdale will certainly have his work cut out for him. His competition on The Voice UK coaching panel includes The Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am, who has appeared on all five previous seasons of the show, and legendary musician Tom Jones, who has appeared on four seasons of the show. The only other newcomer is Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.

As the Los Angeles Times reports, Gwen Stefani will be returning to the U.S. version of The Voice for Season 12. It will be her third season coaching on the NBC series, and she’ll be replacing Season 11 coach Miley Cyrus. So far, Gwen has not shared her feelings about Gavin’s new gig, but some of Gwen’s fans have made it clear that they aren’t happy about her unfaithful ex joining The Voice family.

Gavin was Gwen’s team adviser on Season 7 of The Voice, and the No Doubt frontwoman admitted that she was not comfortable with her then-husband joining her on the show. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Gwen even said that she and Gavin got in a huge fight ahead of their first day working together. Now she’ll be starring on the show alongside the new man in her life, country singer Blake Shelton, but she’s likely feeling less apprehension about working with Blake after competing against him on two seasons of the show.

Stefani has given numerous interviews about her divorce from Gavin Rossdale and her romance with Blake Shelton, recently telling People that her split from her husband of 13 years turned out to be “one of my favorite things that ever happened to me.” Rossdale has been less willing to talk about the demise of their marriage, and it seems as though he’s getting sick of hearing about it.

“It’s, like, enough already. I’ve got to move on. Everyone has got to move on,” he told the Sunday Times.

According to Gavin Rossdale, his main focus right now is making sure that his three sons with Gwen Stefani—Kingston, 10, Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 2—grow up to be better men than he is. However, there are some reports that he’s also looking for love. Last month, Us Weekly reported that he had gone on a date with Elin Nordegren, a former model and nanny who used to be married to Tiger Woods. She became a household name in 2009 when Woods confessed to cheating on her.

Elin lives in Florida, but a source says that she “flies to L.A. on her private plane a lot.” Gavin Rossdale will soon be spending a lot of time in London, but Elin Nordegren may still get a chance to see him. According to the Rossdale, he plans on flying back to L.A. when it’s his turn to have custody of his sons. During his time in the U.K., the British rocker has been spending some time hanging out with his daughter, 27-year-old model Daisy Lowe, while she rehearses for her own reality competition, Strictly Come Dancing.

“She’s incredible — blown me away. I’ve been to see a few rehearsals,” Gavin said of watching Daisy dance. “I went down there a few times. You can’t tell who’s the professional.”

Perhaps Daisy Lowe will give Gavin Rossdale a few tips about how to charm television viewers if Gwen Stefani will not.
