NFL Schedule: New York Giants Showcasing Odell Beckham Jr. In London, Avoiding Josh Brown

To the disdain of their public relations department, the New York Giants are generating headlines left and right. The team has a game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday morning, and they’re the talk of the town. Unfortunately, though, the discussion is not solely based on what happens on the football field.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers sells more jerseys in England than anyone else in the NFL. Right behind him is Odell Beckham Jr., as reported by ESPN. The enigmatic wide receiver for the New York Giants has drawn attention because of the spectacular play on the field and disruptive incidents off of it.

While hardcore NFL fans might not be nearly as impressed, casual football fans are simply amazed whenever players can catch the ball with one hand. They simply love acrobatic moments that show up on the highlight reels. Odell Beckham Jr. has been featured on many of those segments.

Unfortunately for the New York Giants, Odell Beckham Jr. has also been generating attention for all of the wrong reasons. The 23-year-old wide receiver has allowed his emotions to get the best of him on a couple of occasions this season. There was an incident with the kicking net that has turned him into the butt of jokes on social media.

The NFL regular season is far from over, but Odell Beckham Jr. has already been fined approximately $96,000. For the majority of people in this world, that amount of money would provide a good living for an entire year.

Two of the fines assessed to Odell Beckham Jr. have been because of touchdown celebrations that were considered excessive by the NFL. The wide receiver was also fined for taunting and a hit against New Orleans Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro that was considered a bit much.

The NFL is hoping that Odell Beckham Jr. will generate headlines in London by entertaining the audience with a dominating game. They’re hoping that he produces some highlights. League executives are hoping that there will be no sideline incidents or situations where Beckham Jr. ends up being assessed another fine.

Another thing that the NFL is hoping is that fans and the media in London will not mention Josh Brown too much. The New York Giants kicker has given the league a black eye because of his history with domestic violence. The situation was made worse recently when details were released by the authorities.

Both the NFL and the New York Giants have been criticized for the way that they have handled the Josh Brown incident. The Giants apparently signed him to a new lucrative contract even though they knew about the domestic violence incident, however the NFL only suspended Brown for just one game.

Considering how things are going at the moment, there is a very good chance that Josh Brown will never play in another NFL game for the rest of his life. He seems destined to join Ray Rice as a player that teams simply will not want to deal with.

The New York Giants decided that Josh Brown would not be making the trip to London with the rest of the team. To replace him, management contacted Robbie Gould, a veteran kicker in the NFL. He was given very short notice, but Gould ended up taking a flight from Chicago to London so that he can be the kicker for the Giants on Sunday morning.

Not surprisingly, the New York Giants would much rather make headlines for winning the Super Bowl, which they did twice under the guidance of head coach Tom Coughlin. Now, they’re simply trying to get through a game in London without having to deal with too much of a headache.
