Authorities say a 25-year-old man is in serious but stable condition after he was stabbed on the concourse of the Carrier Dome Friday night at Syracuse University’s Orange Madness event.

According to NBC Sports, the victim, whose identification remains unknown, is not cooperating with police at this time. Authorities add that he was not a student at the Syracuse University.

”This was a general admission event, we had upwards of 15,000 people and there is no reason to believe Syracuse students were involved,” police spokesman Tom Connellan told CNYcentral.

Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor and Athletic Director Dr. Daryl Gross have released a statement regarding the stabbing at the Carrier Dome.

The statement says:

“We were saddened to learn of the incident at the Dome last night. There is no place and no tolerance for anything like this, and future Orange Madness events will be designed to prevent incidents such as this. We are proud of the terrific partnership among Syracuse City Police, SU Department of Public Safety, and Carrier Dome security staff, and we are confident that their work will continue to maintain a safe and secure environment for our patrons who come to the Dome to enjoy the hard work and efforts of our student-athletes.”

SB Nation notes that Syracuse’s Orange Madness event, which served as a kick-off for the 2012-2013 college basketball season, featured scrimmages, dunk and 3-point shooting contests, and a performance by rapper Wale.

The entertainer was scheduled to perform two songs but performed just one after the school decided to end the event a half hour early.
